Bridge to Success
Senior Information
Senior Breakfast
Tuesday, May 26th
@ Golden Coral (Normandy)
8:30 am – 10:00 am
Seniors will have the opportunity to purchase a ticket for the senior
breakfast for $15.00. At this breakfast, we will celebrate our successes
and recognize the various next steps that our seniors are taking. Tickets
must be purchased by May 15th and are non-refundable once purchased.
Adventure Landing
Thursday, May 28th
9:00 am – 12:30 pm
Seniors will have the opportunity to purchase a ticket for the senior
outing to Adventure Landing for $15.00. The ticket price includes
unlimited Mini Golf and 2 other attractions. Tickets must be purchased by
May 15th and are non-refundable once purchased.
Senior Awards Ceremony
Date: May 28th @ 5:00 pm
Location: Ribault HS Auditorium
Students and families are invited for this fun event to recognize senior
achievements. Students will receive two tickets each for the awards
ceremony.
Other Senior Activities
Possible dates:
May 21st, 22nd, 27th or 29th
Each Bridge to Success site MAY elect to one (1) add additional senior
activity on one of these dates. Participation in these events is voluntary
and information about these events will be posted on the main school
website and information will be sent out closer to these dates.
Cap/Gown & Ticket Pick-up
Tuesday, June 2nd
10:00 am – 6:00 pm
The student and/or parent must pick up the cap/gown package and
tickets for the Commencement Ceremony during this time at the Bridge
Main Campus (1824 N. Pearl Street). Only the legal guardian or student
with picture ID will be authorized to pick up the cap/gown package.
Cap/Gown packages are $45.00 and must be paid for by April 10 th to
ensure that your size is available.
Graduation
Monday, June 8th @ 2:00 pm
Mandarin High School
Auditorium
Doors for families and guests open at 1:30 pm. No one will be permitted
to enter after 2:00 pm. Graduates must arrive no later than 12:45 pm and
must adhere to all rules and procedures detailed later in this packet.
All tickets and cap/gown packages may be purchased from the Dean at your BTS site or with
Ms. Morris at the Main Campus.
Important Information for Senior Parents
These are answers to questions most frequently asked by senior parents at the end of the school year. Should
you have other questions, please contact Ms. Morris, School Counselor at (904) 520-7640.
DISCIPLINARY OFFENSES
Any potential graduate who has a class 3 offense or higher will NOT be allowed to participate in the
Commencement Ceremony or any other school related activities. No refunds will be granted for any school
activities that have already been paid for in this instance.
EARLY DISMISSAL FROM SCHOOL
Seniors are expected to be in attendance at school or a school event everyday through May 20th, 2015. District
EOC/CAST exams, teacher final exams and any other scheduled testing CANNOT be provided at an earlier date
for students. If you miss your scheduled exam time, you may schedule a make-up session as provided by the
school Testing Coordinator. All senior grades are due by noon on Wednesday, May 20 th or students may not
have the necessary requirements to receive a diploma or Certificate of Completion.
DEBTS TO SCHOOL
Seniors must clear all debts to the school as soon as possible. Payments may be in the form of cash or money
order and must be paid by May 2Oth.
GRADUATION TICKETS
Duval County School Board policy dictates that admission to graduation will be by ticket only. Each senior will
be issued 4 tickets, distributed on June 2nd at the Main Campus location. All persons regardless of age must
have a ticket to enter. Additional tickets may be available on a first come, first serve basis on June 2nd.
DRESS FOR GRADUATION
Boys- Blue cap and gown over a white dress shirt, dark tie, with dark (blue or black) dress slacks (NO Khaki)
and dark dress shoes. NO jeans, shorts, athletic shoes, boat shoes, or other casual footwear.
Girls- Blue cap and gown over a dress that is shorter than the gown or dark (blue or black) dress slacks and a
dress shirt with no collar. Dark (black or blue) dress shoes must also be worn. NO jeans, shorts, athletic shoes,
or other casual footwear. Shoe heels may not be taller than 2 inches (you will be walking up and down stairs
during the ceremony). Duval County dress code does apply to dresses including the three finger rule for dress
straps.
GRADUATION
Seniors must arrive no later than 12:45 pm. They are not to wear their cap and gown as they enter, but rather
students should carry their cap and gown into the entrance. All guests are required to present a ticket as they
enter. At the conclusion of the ceremony, graduates will return their gowns as they exit the auditorium.
EXPECTATION OF GUESTS AT GRADUATION
Graduation will be the final achievement for the class of 2015. It is a tribute to the accomplishments of each
Senior. Please respect the dignity and importance of this occasion. No noisemakers of any kind will be allowed
in the auditorium. Each individual (including babies and toddlers) must have a ticket. We ask that all applause
and celebrations be held until all graduates names have been called so that each family has to opportunity to
hear their son’s or daughter’s accomplishments.




No saving of seats
No parents or guests are permitted back stage
Guests cannot bring balloons into the center as gifts for graduates
No photography or videotaping will be allowed in the aisles. Aisles must remain clear at all times
EXPECTATIONS OF SENIORS AT GRADUATION






Graduates are to only bring their cap and gown into the Auditorium- No purses or bags of any kind
Graduates are not permitted to exit the Auditorium once they enter
Graduates may not decorate their caps
Appropriate behavior before, during, and prior to graduation is required
Any senior without cap and gown along with proper dress code will not be allowed to participate in the
graduation ceremony
Any senior who has not paid their Senior fees by May 22nd may not walk at graduation
SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETOR
A sign language interpreter can be available at graduation. If you or your family needs an interpreter, please
contact Ms. Morris as soon as possible.
CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION VS DIPLOMA
Students will only be eligible for a Standard Diploma if they meet all course/credit, GPA and testing
requirements as determined by the State of Florida. If a student meets the course/credit and GPA
requirements they may be eligible to participate in the Commencement Ceremony and receive a Certificate of
Completion so long as they have attempted all possible testing opportunities (FCAT, FSA and State EOCs) and
attempted the appropriate alternate tests (ACT, SAT or PERT) at least once during this currently school year.
VIRTUAL CLASS COMPLETION
All virtual courses (through Florida Virtual School or Duval Virtual School) must have a final official grade
posted no later than May 19th. This means that students should have all coursework completed to their virtual
teacher no later than Friday, May 8th to allow for the teacher to grade and post all required work, this includes
all coursework, virtual assessments, required student and/or parent calls and anything else outlined as a
requirement for your virtual course work.
Testing Dates & Requirements
FCAT 2.0 Reading & Alg I EOC Retakes- March 23rd – April 8th; students who have previously attempted the
grade 10 FCAT 2.0 Reading and/or Alg I EOC assessments will have an opportunity to retake these
assessments.
Florida State Assessment (FSA) Reading- April 13th – 24th; Students who entered ninth grade in the year 1314
or after must pass the 10th grade FSA Reading assessment to receive a high school diploma. The passing score
has not yet been determined by the state. Any potential graduate who is required to pass this assessment
MAY receive a Certificate of Completion until the passing scores have been released by the state (as long as all
credit and GPA requirements have been met).
State End of Course Exams- Algebra I, Geometry, & Algebra 2 EOC- April 20th – May 15th; US History, Biology
May 11th – 22nd. These State End of Course exams will be administered for students currently scheduled into
these classes. Please remember that the State EOC counts as 30% of the year-long final grade.
Senior CAST & District End of Course exams- April 28th through May 8th. These exams count as 20% of the
student’s semester average in most classes. See the enclosed chart for how course final grades are calculated.
Senior Final Exams- Teacher final exams will only be administered for courses that do not have a district CAST
or End of Course exam. These exams count at 20% of the student’s semester average.
Monday, May 18th - A day exams

Wednesday, May 20th before 10:00 am all make-up exams must be completed!
