Digital Media/Web Publishing & Design Planned Course - A presentation will be made regarding this newly proposed high school Technology Education planned course. (*) 2. High School Course Selection Guide for 2016-2017 – The annual high school course selection guide will be presented by the High School Principal, Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for Committee and public review and input. (*) 3. Alternative and Extended Block Scheduling Options – the High School Principal will report on the progress of a proposal to implement this option at Upper Moreland High School. 4. High School and Middle School Early Dismissal Proposal for Professional Development – the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and High School Principal will present a proposal for student early dismissal on 4 days (HS) and 3 days (MS) during the remainder of the 2015-2016 school year to conduct building-based professional development with the staff. (*) III. 5. 2016-2017 Calendar - The Superintendent will provide a draft proposal for the school calendar for the 2016-2017 school year. 6. Approval requested for 9th through 12th grade music students (2), who were selected to the PA Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 11 Orchestra to participate in the PMEA District 11 Orchestra Festival at Lower Moreland High School from January 1315, 2016. 2. D. Approval requested for 9th through 12th grade music students (4), who were selected to the PA Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 11 Band to participate in the PMEA District 11 Band Festival at Spring Ford Area High School from January 27-29, 2016. Essential Training & Conferences 1. Shane Cross, Terry Stewart, Jenny Lehman, and Lynn Briley (ADMIN) will attend the 2016 PDE Data Summit from May 22 through 25, 2016 in Hershey, PA cto present and learn about using data teams to improve the quality of data and its use to improve decision making. Approximate cost: $3,074.00. 2. Jessica Kilcollum, Lisa Dudek, (IS) and Dina Cassidy (ADMIN) will attend Revisiting Balanced Literacy – Supporting the Demands of PA Core on January 14, 2016 at MCIU to explore the components (close reading, text complexity, writing from sources and academic vocabulary) of literacy instruction. Approximate cost: $387.00 (Title I funds). 3. Teresa Lombardi, Joseph Waters (IS), Dena Criss and teacher TBD (MS), Lindsey Stock (HS) and Dina Cassidy (ADMIN) will attend PSSA Item Writing & Scoring Workshop on January 26, 2016 at MCIU to learn about the process that is used to develop assessment items for reading, math and science on the state assessments and the method that will be used to score assessment items. Approximate cost: $300.00. 4. Jessica Kilcollum, Teresa Lombardi (IS), Valerie Adair, Amy Auld (MS) and Dina Cassidy (ADMIN) will attend Scaffolding Critical Thinking and Analysis of Text for Struggling Readers on February 4, 2016 at MCIU to learn about strategies to support explicit reading for struggling students. Approximate cost: $522.00 (Title I and general funds). 5. Charles Hafele, Leslie Djang and two teachers TBD (MS) will attend the 2016 PAMLEPASAP (Pennsylvania Association for Middle Level Education- Pennsylvania Association of Student Assistance Professionals) Conference from February 28 through March 1, 2016 in State College, PA as part of continuing the process in the Schools to Watch Program. This conference focuses on continued improvement and best practices at the Middle School level. Approximate cost: $2,860.00. 6. E. F. * Robert Milrod (ADMIN) will attend the PDE 2016 Annual Conference, Making a Difference: Educational Practices that Work! on February 11, 2016 in Hershey, PA to learn about effective instructional strategies and interventions designed to support student achievement for all students. Approximate cost: $242.00 (Title I funds). Contracts & Agreements 1. Approval requested for a contract with Sterlen Barr, Rapping about Prevention, to perform at the Upper Moreland Middle School's Acceptance Day on January 15, 2016 for a fee of $650.00 (paid for by UMMS Student Activity funds). (*) 2. Approval requested for a contract with Mike Marsteller to present Break Barriers, Build Success at the Upper Moreland High School on January 21, 2016 for a fee of $1,900.00. (*) 3. Approval requested for a contract with Dr. Dave Brown to present information on middle school advisory programs to staff on February 12, 2016 for a fee not to exceed $1,000.00 (paid with UMMS Home and School Association funds). (*) 4. Approval requested for a contract with Justin Staller to provide professional development to the art department at Arcadia University on February 12, 2016 for a fee not to exceed the cost of the materials provided to the teachers.
