Through the study of texts across genre, gender and historical periods of literature, we encourage our students to develop an interest, enjoyment and critical awareness of an extensive range of written material. Students are guided and encouraged towards independent reading and towards a critical response to genres through a shared experience of an extensive range of views. Students at both levels of this examination syllabus will become confident and perceptive readers, able to share their responses and ideas verbally and on paper, to develop detailed discussion points and to demonstrate the full range of key skills which form an integral part of all A level examination syllabi.
