Supports projects designed to address the economic needs of low-income individuals and families,

3. Program: Supplemental Services for Recently Arrived Refugees
Agency: Administration for Children and Families

Supports projects that provide services to arriving refuges. Examples of allowable services include: social
adjustment & emergency services, health-related services, day care for children, transportation,
interpretation, citizenship preparation services, employment services, English language instruction,

11. Program: Nurse Faculty Loan Program

Supports the establishment and operation of student loan funds to increase number of qualified faculty
in schools of nursing. Grantee schools of nursing make loans to full-time and part-time students enrolled

Supports projects to develop and implement scientifically valid alternatives to use of animals in

NICHD and many NIH institutes support cooperative agreements (U01) between NIH intramural and
extramural investigators. Program allows extramural investigators to take advantage of the unique

19. Program: Small Grants Program for Cancer Epidemiology
Agency: National Institutes of Health

Supports pilot projects (R03) testing new techniques, secondary analyses of existing data, or innovative,
high-risk projects that could provide a basis for more extended cancer epidemiologic research. High
priority areas in cancer epidemiology research are methods and technologies; identification of
modifiable risk factors; identification of host susceptibility factors; and clinical and translational
