Closed Thoracostomy Tube (Right or Left)
Cricothyrotomy with placement of 6 Fr ET tube
Medial and lateral lower extremity fasciotomy
Exploratory laparotomy
Closure of exploratory laparotomy incision
Hasson maneuver

 ED Thoracotomy (left anterolateral thoracotomy procedure)description should explain extension to a ‘clamshell’ but
procedure will be isolated to left anterolateral exposure
 Perform Hasson maneuver with confirmation of adequate
insufflation of the abdomen (procedure requires attachment of
pneumoperitoneum to confirm appropriate intra-abdominal
pressures)
 Explicit identification of ligament of Treitz with full ‘running’ of
the small bowel
 Demonstrate a ‘pursestring’ suture on the stomach in preparation
for a Stamm gastrostomy
 Perform a ‘Witzel’ maneuver on the small bowel for a feeding
jejunostomy/Lembert suturing of the small bowel
 Stapled side-to-side, functional end-to-end enteroenterostomy
(ligation of the intervening mesentery)
 End-to-end single layer hand-sewn enteroenterostomy
 Mobilization of the right or left colon from the lateral attachments
 Brooke end ileostomy/colostomy maturation

Right medial visceral rotation (Cattell-Braasch)
Left medial visceral rotation (Maddox maneuver)
Kocher maneuver
Pringle maneuver (including placement of Rummel tourniquet)
Carotid exposure (including common carotid, internal and
external bifurcation)
Unilateral thyroid gland exposure (attempt maneuvers to expose
parathyroid gland0
Femoral artery and vein exposure
Lesser sac exposure
Esophageal exposure at the GE junction
Exposure of the superior mesenteric artery at its root
Two layer hand sewn (functional end-to-end) enteroenterostomy
