Based in New York City, Morgan Stanley Community Affairs is responsible for the Firm’s charitable efforts including:
corporate and foundation giving, employee volunteering, giving and engagement, and communications and reporting
around philanthropic issues for the Firm.
Community Affairs is seeking a full time Program Analyst with 2 - 5years of work experience in the nonprofit or
corporate sector. This position supports the department’s program managers on a variety of charitable initiatives
including but not limited to employee volunteering, giving and matching, communications and data management. This
generalist role also provides extensive customer support to both employees’ and nonprofits’ inquiries about Morgan
Stanley’s programs. The Program Analyst dual reports to the Vice President and Director of Community Affairs and is an
excellent opportunity to learn about all aspects of corporate philanthropy.
Primary Responsibilities: Employee Engagement Programs
Employee Volunteer Campaign
 Supports Campaign Manager in all aspects of planning and executing global volunteer campaign
 Manages relationships with Firm’s charitable partners to coordinate volunteer projects for the campaign
 Works with business units to manage campaign logistics including planning projects, reporting and
communications
 Recruits, trains and supports employee campaign coordinators
 Creates daily reports on Global Volunteer Month campaign progress for Management and business units
 Manages reporting for Firm campaign competition and incentive rewards
 Vets and edits employee projects for website posting
 Executes of volunteer projects; orders food, schedules rooms, transportation and sends volunteer t-shirts to
volunteers
 Assists in creation of all promotional materials: t-shirts, posters, emails, websites and intranet articles
Year-round Volunteer Efforts
 Maintains employee volunteerism website; posts volunteer opportunities, records volunteer hours; follows-up
with employees as needed
 Responds to employee volunteer inquiries from Community Affairs shared mailbox
 Assists with scoping and executing employee volunteer projects
Employee Giving Campaign
 Supports Campaign Manager in all aspects of planning and executing campaign






Assists in creation of all campaign promotional materials and communications working closely with Corporate
Communications: posters, emails, websites and intranet articles
Meets with business units to help recruit campaign coordinators
Creates and distributes weekly campaign progress reports for business units
Manages check batching vetting and distributions throughout the year working closely with matching gift vendor
and Campaign Manager
Answers campaign inquiries on department hotline and email account
Receipts all donations to the Morgan Stanley Foundation
Department Communications and Reporting
 Supports Communications Manager with researching, writing and promotion of Community Affairs internal
stories and materials
 Assists program managers with developing metrics and measurement of program outcomes; provides support
to create a consistent business unit reporting
 Coordinations reporting and RFP requests - Collaborates with team and other departments across spectrum of
Community Affairs/Foundation activities and handles reporting requests as needed
 Creates spreadsheets, power point presentations, reports and other documents as needed
Other Responsibilities:
 Supports Foundation Program Officers in reviewing and processing of Foundation grant applications
 Responds to general inquiries about Community Affairs programs and activities on the department phone line
and e-mail
 Provides additional program support as needed
Skills Required:
The ideal candidate will have the following professional experience and personal qualities:
 Strong planning, administrative, and organizational skills; attention to detail a must
 Proactive with ability to work independently and as part of a team -- making informed decisions in a complex
and fast-paced environment
 Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with various corporate,
non-profit and public audiences
 Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills (experience with data management and reporting a plus)
 BA and 3-5 years of work experience; related program experience a strong plus
 Sense of humor, humility and desire to learn are crucial
Skills Desired:
 Ideal candidate is a self-starter and team player with excellent project management and analytical skills
 Ability to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines; Proven ability to multi-task
 Flexibility; Ability to deal with changing priorities
 Experience with coordinating and organizing meetings or workshops
 Interest in data management and operations
 Strong interest in the field of corporate philanthropy
 Experience working with non-profits or foundations a plus
