Write directions of how you built your device so that someone would be able to build an exact replica. (Your materials will be returned to you after being reviewed by coaches.) MATERIALS: Any inexpensive materials found around your house: straws, push pins, styrofoam balls, paper cups, Popsicle sticks, etc Commercial sets: Googolplex, K’nex, Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs, Legos Create a picture book that identifies and explains the following severe storms: tornado, hurricane, derecho, haboob, water spout, and dust devil. OR Research either the jet stream or the Gulf Stream. Be able to tell it’s effect on local weather. Find a creative way to teach this to your fellow Olympians. Work It Out The Heat Is On Show us your physical side! Create a 1-2 minute routine that includes at least 4 different physical activities (jumping jacks, pushups, sit ups, lunges, hula hooping, etc.) Create a foldable which includes a list of common conductors and insulators. OBJECTIVE: You will build a structure using only the materials listed below. For this assignment, you will build a boat that holds the most marbles or pennies before sinking. OBJECTIVE: To design and build the lightest pasta bridge, with the highest structural efficiency, capable of supporting a load of up to 10 kg. Identify 5 traits that you have inherited from someone in your family. Think of a creative way to display/share these traits. MATERIALS: MATERIALS: 1. Cups, plates, or bowls made from paper or Styrofoam 2. Rubber bands 3. Copy paper 4. Paper or plastic straws with or without wrappers 5. Cotton balls 6. OR OR Create at least 3 sets of fingerprint cards (three different people). Identify type of fingerprints. Classify the vertebrate dinosaurs by their time period (Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous) or whether they are carnivores, herbivores, or omnivores. Be able to explain the difference between a solution and a mixture. Be able to explain how they can be separated. OR OR Science Charades Create a game that could be used to help learn the bone and joints from the Official Bone and Muscle List. *see Event Resources Collect samples of at least 4 of the following: table salt, baking soda, talc, borax (sod, cornstarch, sugar (crystal), sand, flour. Identify at least four properties of each. Select at least 10 words from the list of vocabulary (see event resource). Write one word per index card or post it note.
