REGIONAL TOURNAMENT GUIDELINES
1. The South region will establish an equal rotation for all member schools to have the opportunity to host
each sport regional in which they participate and pay dues.
2. No more than two region tournaments may be hosted by one member institution with in the NCCAA D-I
South Region in one calendar year.
a. M/W Soccer Region Tournament count as one tournament
b. M/W Tennis Region Tournament count as one tournament
c. Golf & Cross Country not included
3. If an institution scheduled to host a regional tournament is unable to host, that institution must give a
minimum 60-day notice to the NCCAA. The alternate listed will be the next in line to host should the
original host back out. An institution that fails to notify the NCCAA that they are unable to host within
60 days will face sanctions. Special circumstances will be considered.
4. If the member institution elects not to host a region tournament for any reason, (facility challenges,
advancing in NAIA/NCAA post-season, institutional post-season policy, etc.), then they lose their
opportunity to host and would drop to the bottom of the region rotation.
5. If both the designated host school and the alternate are unable to host the tournament, then the host
responsibilities would become available via an open bid process from region members. The bids shall
be submitted to the South Region Chair. Once all the bids are collected an email is sent to all the region
Athletic Directors for a vote on the region tournament site.
6. If a member institution is awarded a region tournament through a bid process that member institution
may exceed the two region tournament maximum.
7. If it is geographically reasonable to play any “play-in” game within a geographical area (i.e. North
Greenville & Southern Wesleyan) then the Region Sport Chair and D-I Region Chair will work with the
two participating schools to set a date and time that will allow them to participate in the scheduled
region contest.
8. As new members come into the South region or sports are added to existing schools, those schools
enter at the bottom of the region rotation.
