What is the title? Title – “Theodore Roosevelt” The topic of the lesson plan is Theodore Roosevelt – we will talk about his contributions and impact in US history. Critical Question Addressed What specific questions(s) will be answered? What roles did Theodore Roosevelt play in US history? How did Theodore Roosevelt impact nature conservation? What were the different offices that Theodore Roosevelt held? Lesson or Project Goals and Objectives What will students experience and be able to do as a result of this lesson or project? Students will be able to identify that Theodore Roosevelt was a significant character in the development of the United States Students will be able to explain at least 3 areas that Theodore Roosevelt improved during his presidency (food and drug safety, national parks, Panama Canal) Students will be able to identify contributions made by Theodore Roosevelt outside his presidency Curriculum Connections: List Core Curriculum TEKS addressed (4) History. How are you making the connections to the curriculum and technology clear? I will introduce the topic by reaching this time period in Social Studies and discussing the president Theodore Roosevelt. The class will then be divided into 3 sections for the “Theodore Roosevelt Museum” – with an audio listening section (where students will listen to my created audio clip and other relevant audio clips), a video watching station (where students will watch relevant video clips), and a reading station (where students will read selected materials) – which will all combine to teach students about Theodore Roosevelt’s life, presidency, and other contributions to American History. After all stations have been visited by all students, they will be put into groups of 4 for the assessment. Each group will choose one interesting and important thing about Theodore Roosevelt and act out the piece of information and demonstrate its significance. Group Activity: “History Museum” – the class will be divided into 3 groups who will “tour” around the classroom and stop at the 3 different stations – the video station, audio station, and reading station – to learn all about Theodore Roosevelt and his contributions to US history. Paired Assessment: The students will then break up into small groups of 4 where they will choose one interesting and important thing about Theodore Roosevelt and act out the piece of information and demonstrate its significance.
