JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title:
Corporate and Major Gifts Fundraiser
Reports to:
Head of High Value Partnerships
Purpose:
To develop and drive World Jewish Relief’s Corporate portfolio, including the Wealth Planning Network (WPN) as per
budgetary targets, achieving long term sustainable income.
To manage the cultivation, stewardship and account management of major donors and corporate partners,
proactively increasing World Jewish Relief’s supporter engagement and income.
Background:
World Jewish Relief is dedicated to alleviating human suffering and serving the urgent needs of, primarily but not
exclusively, Jewish communities who are at risk or in crisis around the world. Last year WJR raised in excess of
£4.5m voluntary income supporting 59,908 vulnerable individuals, through 73 programmes, in 20 countries across the
world.
WJR’s Corporate and Special Events programme is a critical element of the charity’s fundraising portfolio and a real
area for growth over the last few years. With the foundations firmly in place, recruitment of this role comes at an
exciting and critical stage. The remit is now to drive forward the strategic development of the corporate portfolio and
to be at the forefront of relationship building and the soliciting of gifts from the organisation’s key supporters and
prospects.
The Wealth Planning Network is a brand new, innovative initiative way to raise funds and increase the profile of WJR.
Through strategic management of this group and relationship building with its members, WJR can gain benefits
across its fundraising portfolio, including Legacies, Corporate Fundraising, Special Events and WJR: The Network.
Key Responsibilities:

Identifying new corporate prospects and proactively seeking, coordinating and account managing corporate
organisations, and supporters at those organisations, to build and enhance relationships, achieving income
targets.

Devising and implementing WJR’s Corporate fundraising strategy with key engagement options for both
existing and new supporters. To include sponsorship package structure in line with the Special Events
Portfolio and devising a corporate supporter journey based on corporate engagement plans

Liaise with Special Events manager to provide donor care to Business Breakfast committee and Corporate
Chair, providing strategic input and attending meetings when required

Work with the Head of High Value Partnerships to assist in the management our new young professionals
programme, WJR: The Network. Account management of supporters who sign-up to the Network

Managing the Wealth Planning Network (WPN) which includes proactively seeking, coordinating and
account managing allocated WPN partners to enhance relationships and achieve agreed year one income
targets

Creation of individual proposals and agreements for WPN members, managing and coordinating events and
WPN meetings throughout the year

Co-ordination of the WPN partner service promotion to profiled elements of our database, constructing and
executing promotional schedule and adhering to agreed deadlines

Liaising with the wider Fundraising & Marketing team and the Communications team to ensure
synchronisation of all events, marketing and messaging, adhering to WJR brand guidelines at all times

Managing and formulating the WPN and Corporate Fundraising budgets in consultation with the Head of
High Value Partnerships and assist with specific activities as required

Assist in the management of Special Event canvassers, invite lists and post event follow up as well as major
donor administrative support when required Liaising with Council members and attending all Major Gifts
team meetings

Management and coordination WJR processes and procedures which are required

Monitoring of cost and income, reporting monthly against targets as per Fundraising & Marketing team
template format

Benchmark and monitor best practice in corporate fundraising, adhering to Fundraising Standards Board
guidelines at all times

Maintain accurate and up to date records of major donor management on the WJR database (Raiser’s Edge)
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Skills / Status Required
QUALIFICATIONS

Degree level or equivalent
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE
AND APTITUDE

Ability to build strong relationships and network with supporters

Demonstrable experience of research and solicitation of major funding
prospects, or related activities

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to make a cogent
and compelling case for support and produce high quality written reports as
required

Experience of formulating and developing departmental cost and income
budgets

Excellent organisational skills and ability to produce high quality work under
pressure and to deadlines

Demonstrable knowledge of trust fundraising techniques and sector trends

Exceptional attention to detail

Strong administrative and IT skills

Ability to work in a team and use own initiative

Knowledge of utilising the full capabilities of fundraising databases

Experience of volunteer management an advantage

An understanding of and empathy with values and work of World Jewish
Relief

Knowledge and understanding of the Jewish Community a distinct advantage

Ability to exceptionally work additional hours according to event demands

Ability to travel overseas to projects in order to accompany potential donor
participants on a limited basis.

As this post is UK based, non-EU nationals will require current and valid permission to work in the UK
Normal Hours of Work:
Normal hours of work are 9:00 am to 5.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 9.00 am to 2.00 p.m. on Friday although
flexibility is required for additional hours at the request of senior management.
