Courses for Exchange Students IDE
Semester 1 or Fall Semester 2015/2016
1. Master Courses Industrial Design Engineering
The academic year will consist of four periods (quarters) of each 10 weeks.
Exchange students who have finished their bachelor education or have at least 3 years of bachelor
education in industrial design are admissible to the 1st year courses of our MSc degree programs.
For Master Package 1 and 2 – Design for Interaction and Integrated Product Design, admission is
based on the portfolio.
The faculty of Industrial Design Engineering offers three different master programs: Integrated
Product Design, Design for Interaction and Strategic Product Design (check
www.ide.tudelft.nl/international for general descriptions of each program). All master courses are in
English and require a high level of English language ability.
Exchange students can choose a package of master courses in one of the master programs as listed
below. For a description of the courses take a look at the site Study guide. or follow the links in each
table. Electives are explained in the next section.

2. (Master) Elective Courses - Industrial Design Engineering
only for Master students
Exchange students who have followed at least 3 years of bachelor education are admissible . For a
description take a look at the Study guide.
Almost all elective courses are for small groups of students and have a limited number of places. Many
Dutch students and exchange students want to follow these courses. Places are allocated by lot
(compare this to a lottery). Sometimes admission is based on portfolio and/or a letter of motivation.
Important! For the elective courses it is essential to attend the first, introduction hour that the
course begins. If you are not there, you lose your place in the course to students on the waiting list.
Also, if you are not admitted to the elective course of your first choice, you can go to the first,
introduction lecture and see if there are any open spaces.

3. Language Courses – Delft University of Technology
English language courses (elective courses)
TU Delft offers several English language courses to its students. These courses can be taken as an
elective. All courses are semester courses, which means they start in September and February. Students
must sit a placement test before participating in any English course. This way we can establish which
course and which level is most suitable for you.
Placement tests are generally scheduled for the week before the start of a course, but can also be
arranged the first week after your arrival.
Dutch courses
For Dutch courses you have to do a test end of August.
