SMITHTON ATHLETIC BOOSTERS (August 22, 2012)
The meeting was called to order at 7:02 pm by President, Jim Elbe. A sheet was passed around to have
all in attendance sign in.
A motion was made by Eric Smith and seconded by Marsha Schulte to accept the minutes. The
treasurers report was discussed. Thanks to Kathy Oliver and Linda Elbe for getting the calendars ready
and printed.
The new AD, Tony Funderberg, was introduced. He is from St Peters, MO originally. He was an intern
for the River City Rascal organization before taking a job with the Grizzlie organization in Sauget. He was
with the Grizzlies until 2007. He took a position in the "D" league of the NBA in Tulsa and Reno, Nevada.
He missed the area and moved back. He currently lives in Freeburg with his wife and three sons eight
year old twins and a five year old. He is the director of marketing for the Belle Clair Soccer League. He is
also a para in our junior high.
We will sell the old winter spirit wear at open house and order new for parent-teacher conferences.
There is a cross country meet at the park on September 19th. Freeburg will take care of the concession
stand.
Gabe Schwemmer has composed a mission and vision statement. Linda Elbe is working on a goals
statement. It was discussed that each office will be a two-year term with a maximum of two
consecutive terms. We need to develop some by-laws.
We need to discuss what the sports fees include and what we are willing to supplement.
The possibility of having an athletic banquet in the spring was discussed. Jim Elbe will talk to Dr. York
about the date and booking the hall. Tisa will talk to Junior about fund raiser if it is okay with school.
The PTO will possibly have a poker walk on October 13th.
Tony Funderberg will check on prices to fly Jason Glover and Ethan O'Brien in to run a basketball camp.
They will probably stay in Edwardsville.
Tony Funderberg will get price on chalker for the baseball and softball fields.
Next meeting will be September 19th.
