Big Brain Club founder Dom Testa, co-host of the top-rated Dom and Jane Show on Mix100, will personally be speaking
with East families. Dom will also highlight during this time his first non-fiction book, Smart is Cool: Building a Better
Student Through Attitude. This free presentation is sponsored by DPS School Partnerships with the Big Brain Club.
Middle Schools are welcome to attend. Spanish translation provided. This is a FREE event.

Volunteer Opportunity
East Teacher Appreciation Committee – Volunteering in a delicious way!
We are looking for parents to help treat our wonderful staff at East High School. Several times throughout the school
year we ask for parent contributions of food and treats for our teachers. If you received request emails from us last
year, we still have your email! New volunteers and 9th grade families, thank you in advance for volunteering!

East Food/Clothing Drive Benefitting Homeless Senior Citizens October 13th-27th, 2014 East Rm 107 & 108
East business & marketing students are sponsoring a drive to benefit the Denver Senior Support Services. This agency
serves over 400 seniors citizens daily. Food, clothing, and monetary donations can be dropped off during the day or at
Parent & Teacher Conferences. Partial list of accepted items: Packaged Food-(Small Individual size Snack Foods) Cup a Soup,
Granola Bars, Fruit Snacks, Trail Mix, Canned Food- (Prefer small individual size cans with flip up tops) Spam, Vienna Sausages (plain
& barbeque), Chicken, Tuna Clothing-(Used) gloves, sturdy jeans, sweatshirts (New) socks & underwear (med & large), razors For

Educa Radio and Periódico Educa
"Educa" (educate) is an hour-long weekly program to connect Denver Public Schools with Spanish-speaking parents
about school policies, events, and issues in public education. Periódico Educa is a Spanish newspaper distributed
quarterly in Thursday folders and is also available at the DPS Central Office located at 900 Grant Street.

Coach Nominations
PCA’s Double-Goal Coach Award
Nominate a coach today! Do you know a coach that demonstrates the Double-Goal Coach ideal of pursuing both wins
and the more important goal of teaching life lessons through sports? Each year Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) selects
and publicizes 75 finalists. The 25 winners of this prestigious national award receive $250; a trophy; recognition in PCA's
website, newsletters and media campaigns; and the chance to accept the honor in California during PCA's National
Youth Sports Awards Dinner and Auction Presented by Deloitte . Schools/ organizations that the award-winning coaches
