Double-click on ‘Analytical Grid Map’ in the project window to make it active
Click on ‘Western Collaboration Hospital Common Buffer’ to make it an active tab
Go to the Transformation function at the right bottom corner
Change the parameters to the following example:
5. This will bring highlight the clinics within the catchment zone of 3000 metres from the 3
hospitals
6. Open the ‘Clinics’ table in ‘Clinics’ Folder. You will see the following in the right bottom showing
the selected number of clinics
Estimating Market Potential (All Hospitals)
1. Click on ‘Hospital Composite Catchment Area’ to make the drawing layer an active tab
2. Go to the Transformation function at the right bottom corner
3. Change the parameters to the following example:
4. Click ‘Apply’
5. This will highlight the clinics within the catchment zone of all hospitals in Singapore
6. Open the ‘Clinics’ table in ‘Clinics’ Folder. You will see the following in the right bottom showing
the selected number of clinics
Viewing number of clinics in each cluster
1. Double-click ‘Number of clinics per cluster[Order by clinic count]’ function in the project window
2. You will see the following SQL Command. Click ‘Run’ to see the number of clinics for each
hospital/cluster in Singapore
3. A table will appear showing the each hospital’s name, corresponding number of clinics within its
buffer zone and the percentage of market share.

1. Drag and drop ‘Hospital Name’ label in ‘Hospital and Clinics’ folder into ‘Analytical Grid Map’
2. Drag and drop ‘Percentage Market Share Theme’ drawing into the map
3. You will see the following which depicts percentage market share of hospitals in Singapore
Viewing clinics belonging to each hospital
1. Double-click ‘Query Clinic Referral’ function in project pane
2. The following SQL Command will appear. Click ‘Run’ to execute SQL statement.
3. The Query Parameters popup will appear. Enter ‘Jurong General Hospital’ as choice of hospital
to search for as shown below
4. You will see a table which consists of clinics which refer patients to Jurong General Hospital
Target Market Determination
1. Drag and drop ‘Percentage households below $3000 household income’ theme in ‘Cluster’
drawing into ‘Analytical Grid Map.
2. Click on ‘View’  ‘Legend’
3. Check ‘View Legend’ tab
4. Click on ‘Customize legend’ and under ‘Type’, choose ‘Component: Percentage households
below $3000 household income’
5. You will see the legend together with the thematic map depicting household income levels
Proximity Analysis
1. Drag and drop Drive time zone (10min Hull Buffer), Drive time zone (20min Hull Buffer) and
Drive time zone (30min Hull Buffer) into ‘Analytical Grid map’
2. You will be able to see the following Proximity analysis based on drive times
Gravity Model
1. Click on the ‘Distance Calculator between hospital’ SQL query function
2. Enter the following values in order to calculate the distance between the partner hospitals to
Jurong General Hospital
a. West Point Hospital – 45576
b. St Luke’s Hospital for the elderly – 45594
3. Input these values in the following circled space
4. This will change the hospital to search for to return a different value for distance between
Jurong General Hospital and your input hospital ID. As shown below is the distance returned to
be used for the Huff’s model.
5. You may look up the ‘Clinics’ table to search for the relevant Clinics ID to search do a query to
return the distance between clinics and Jurong General Hospital
6. Shown below is an table of variables used in the calculation using the Huff’s model for the
probability of patronage to Jurong General Hospital
