Whereas, in October 2012 to November 2012, the Campus Acceptance,
Inclusion, and Fairness Survey (Campus Climate Survey) was released to
all member of the Ithaca College campus community, seeking to collect
information on diversity on campus,
Whereas, Ithaca College strives to create a “rich community that values
diversity of opinion and background” that will promote and advance the
“environment of dialogue and learning,”
Whereas, the President’s Advisory Council on Diversity (PAC-D), in their
Diversity Strategic Plan 2010-2015 listed recommendation number four as
“Carry out a Campus Climate Survey for students, faculty, and staff on a
regular basis and use the results to inform diversity initiatives across
campus,”
Whereas, the college “continually strives to build an inclusive and
welcoming community of individuals” and address “current and past
injustices,”
Whereas, with a Campus Climate Survey that only occurs once every four
years would not allow for proper immersion into campus life for first-year
students and stifle voices of transfer students,
It is strongly resolved that Ithaca College Student Government
Association formally recommends that the President’s Advisory Council on
Diversity (PAC-D), the Office of the Provost, Human Resources, and the
Office of Institutional Research begin planning and communication for the
next Campus Climate Survey immediately.
It is further resolved that a Campus Climate Survey is to be released
every two years with a executive statement and full results released no more
than four months after the close of the survey.
It is further resolved that the current executive summary from the 2012
results and all future information regarding all Campus Climate Surveys are
released to the public for general viewing.
