Review of Campus Climate Survey Process McCall, 1415-0028 Co-Sponsors: Pearson, Kayiza, Couce Prime Sponsor: Schultz Recommendation President’s Signature Date Introduced: 02/16/2015 Date of Voting: Final Vote: Sens Present Pass 13 Yea Nay Abstain 12 1 0 VP Senate Affairs Signature Whereas, in October 2012 to November 2012, the Campus Acceptance, Inclusion, and Fairness Survey (Campus Climate Survey) was released to all member of the Ithaca College campus community, seeking to collect information on diversity on campus, Whereas, Ithaca College strives to create a “rich community that values diversity of opinion and background” that will promote and advance the “environment of dialogue and learning,” Whereas, the President’s Advisory Council on Diversity (PAC-D), in their Diversity Strategic Plan 2010-2015 listed recommendation number four as “Carry out a Campus Climate Survey for students, faculty, and staff on a regular basis and use the results to inform diversity initiatives across campus,” Whereas, the college “continually strives to build an inclusive and welcoming community of individuals” and address “current and past injustices,” Whereas, with a Campus Climate Survey that only occurs once every four years would not allow for proper immersion into campus life for first-year students and stifle voices of transfer students, It is strongly resolved that Ithaca College Student Government Association formally recommends that the President’s Advisory Council on Diversity (PAC-D), the Office of the Provost, Human Resources, and the Office of Institutional Research begin planning and communication for the next Campus Climate Survey immediately. It is further resolved that a Campus Climate Survey is to be released every two years with a executive statement and full results released no more than four months after the close of the survey. It is further resolved that the current executive summary from the 2012 results and all future information regarding all Campus Climate Surveys are released to the public for general viewing.
