For a first experience in front of the whole class,

behaved and willingly responded during discussions.
Variation in your activities kept them involved and
interested throughout the lesson. When students
were distracted, you were able to redirect their
behaviors. You projected your voice well.
With the whole class, make sure that you are
constantly scanning the group to make sure everyone

strategies that will allow you to make smoother

Evidence (Candidate and Student)
Your handout got your students actively involved in
the lesson and gave them a visual reference of
punctuation examples. Your questions helped them to
explain their thinking more clearly about key
concepts. Having the students model sentences in
front of the class was a creative strategy to engage
them in the learning. Your sentences connected to
their experiences.
As we discussed, you probably relied too much on
verbal communication and sometimes directions
weren’t entirely clear. What were other ways you
could use to model or communicate your ideas
visually? Also, while the human punctuation activity
was creative, it didn’t include ways for the rest of
the class to be involved. They could write the
correct form of the sentence at their desks to
predict how the human sentence should be formed.

Teacher Knowledge, Skills, Dispositions Observed
Evidence (Candidate and Student)
You had very clear and specific criteria in your assessment
to evaluate student performance. The worksheet and human
sentence activity gave you two observable ways to measure

students to tell you what they learned at the end of the
lesson, even though you could have used more time to
complete this closure.
You are very reflective and insightful about your teaching
and open to the suggestions of others.
You used some assessment techniques to enhance your knowledge of
learners and modify your teaching and learning strategies.
You evaluated the effect of class activities, collecting information
through observation of classroom interactions and questioning.
You show a commitment to reflection, assessment, and learning as an
ongoing process.
You were willing to give and receive help.
You used classroom observation from the field to reflect on and revise
your practice.
