Northeast College Prep: Uniform Guidelines 2014-2015 Northeast College Prep requires its students to be in uniform unless expressly exempted from wearing a uniform by the school’s administration. The school will provide each student with one uniform polo shirt. Additional parts of the uniform and polo shirts may be purchased at local stores or ordered through the school’s administrative assistant. Embroidery and More at 808 40th Ave NE, Columbia Height, MN 55421 (near 40th Avenue and Central Avenue NE) has NECP shirts and jumpers with the NECP logo for sale. Uniform guidelines are as follows: Tops Required for all students: Dark blue, collared, polo shirt with Northeast College Prep logo o one short-sleeved Northeast College Prep polo will be provided each year to all students o can wear it short-sleeved o can wear a solid (no pattern) long-sleeve shirt underneath o Students can purchase a long-sleeved fleece if they prefer to wear that instead of their polo (it is advisable to wear their polo too because if they remove their fleece they need to have a logo NECP shirt on). o Outer layer at all times must be a must have the NECP logo (the logo could be on the polo, fleece or khaki or dark blue jumper) If a jumper with the logo is worn, the shirt under the jumper must have a collar (i.e. polo, or turtle neck or button-down shirt with a collar) Tops (optional for all students): Dark blue NECP fleece Can wear solid color long sleeve shirt underneath NECP polo (one color, no patterns) Can have a solid colored hijab covering part of the polo shirt Plain navy blue sweaters or sweatshirts are permitted to wear over Northeast College Prep polo shirt. No writing, logos, or emblems on sweaters or sweatshirts (except Northeast College Prep logo). If a sweater or sweatshirt is not plain dark blue, the student will be asked to borrow a sweatshirt from the office for the day. The NECP logo shirt must be worn underneath No hoods on any clothing worn inside (sweaters, sweatshirts or fleeces without hoods are okay) Bottoms: Khaki or dark blue skirt, pants, jumpers or shorts No jeans No oversized or baggy pants Navy blue leggings are permitted as long as other navy blue or khaki clothing items cover the student down to the knees o Abaya/jelbab is permitted in khaki or dark blue with a NECP logo shirt on top (either a polo or a fleece). Hijabs can cover the logo shirt. o o o o Hijabs: Any solid color (without a pattern) hijab is permitted o If students wear a patterned hijab, they will borrow a solid colored hijab for the day. Shoes: All students must wear gym shoes for gym class everyday o If students forget to bring their gym shoes, they will borrow a pair of shoes so all students can participate in gym class everyday. No lights on shoes Accessories: All shoes and clothing must be free from distraction o No lights on shoes o No jewelry or accessories that detract from learning o No toys allowed at school Special Dress Days On special dress days, students must bring a uniform with them in their backpack. If they lose the privilege of special dress, they will change into their uniform. Winter Clothing (required): Boots (and shoes for inside) Coat Hat Mittens or gloves Winter Clothing (optional): Snowpants Scarf Students without snowpants and winter clothing may have limited outdoor recess choices. All students will go outside with the class everyday there is outdoor recess. Students who are not in uniform will be sent to the office to change clothes or home if they refuse to comply with school rules. If the administration believes a student’s appearance, grooming, or mode of dress interferes with or disrupts the educational process or school activities or poses a threat to the health or safety of the student or others, the student will be directed to make modifications or will be sent home for the day.
