Software Engineer Requisition ID: 6152 Location: US - West Lafayette, IN Employment Duration: Regular EE Full Time Description Job Summary: Design and implement software using Microsoft Visual Studio tools for developing C# .NET and WPF applications for portable high-tech instrumentation. Using the most up-to-date design philosophies and methods, these applications monitor, control and perform data analysis of electronic chemical detection systems. Successful Software Engineer applicants will design cutting edge user interfaces in a dynamic environment, develop instrument control software, define and implement data analysis algorithms, and work with end-users to implement and refine designs to suit real-world use. Duties and Responsibilities: Develop applications that require a broad range of technical expertise from instrument control to GUIs to complex algorithm development. Design innovative user interfaces, implement data analysis algorithms and provide instrument troubleshooting and debugging. Establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision. Successful candidates must feel comfortable working in a small workgroup environment where contributions to the team are critical to the success of the company. Responsible for performing all software lifecycle activities from identification of software requirements through design and implementation to technical support and maintenance. Assume software technical leadership including ability to set and interpret requirements, decompose problems, and effectively communicate designs Education and Experience: (Qualifications and/or Requirements) Software Engineer with a BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET C#, WinForms and/or WPF 3 or more years of applicable experience Possess a solid math and analytical focus with the desire to hold a variety of responsibilities High energy, proactive orientation Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with engineers, scientists and other co-workers Comfortable in a dynamic, entrepreneurial atmosphere Experiences in instrumentation control and mass spectrometry are particularly favorable U.S Citizenship required
