[Insert] High School Scrap Metal Drive Raises $XXX

[City], Mich. – [Insert] High School raised $XXX through a scrap metal drive held this past weekend. Students and volunteers collected nearly XXX pounds of scrap metal through the

Lansing-based Friedland Industries, Inc. “Be Green, Get Green” fundraising program. The funds will help support [insert cause].

“We’re so pleased with the success of the scrap metal drive,” said [insert spokesperson], [title] of

[insert] High School. “With the money raised through the fundraiser, we can purchase new technology for our classrooms and updated textbooks. Our students couldn’t be more thrilled.”

Friedland Industries worked closely with the high school to plan and execute the event, which received scrap metal donations from over XX individuals. A roll-off container to collect the scrap metal was dropped off on Friday and picked up on Monday after the fundraiser. The container was then weighed at Friedland’s facility, where a check was written to the high school based on the value of the scrap metal collected.

[Insert school] students formed a pick-up crew to help transport heavy scrap metal items that community members were willing to donate to the fundraiser. Over the weekend, students collected washers, dryers, refrigerators and farm equipment for the Friedland roll-off container placed in the school’s parking lot.

“The fundraiser wouldn’t have been nearly as successful without the students helping to promote it and picking up some of the heaviest, most valuable items,” added [spokesperson].

Though the scrap metal drive is complete, those interested in donating their scrap materials to benefit [insert] High School can still do so by dropping them off to Friedland Industries, Inc. at

405 E. Maple Street, Lansing, Michigan. The school has an ongoing fundraiser account, which allows Friedland to accept scrap materials on behalf of the school year-round and write a monthly check for its value.
