ARTICULATION AGREEMENT
for transfer of credits between
The University of Wisconsin-Superior Bachelor of Science in Social Work Degree
and the
Lake Superior College (LSC) Associate of Arts Degree
Effective Dates:
January 2014-December 2019
Review Date: June 2019
Introduction and Rationale:
The University of Wisconsin-Superior maintains an educational partnership with LSC to provide
opportunities for students to enter bachelor’s degree completion programs. In the interest of
fostering cooperation between our institutions, and to better serve the transfer of students from
LSC to the University of Wisconsin-Superior, the faculty and administration of our institutions
have established this articulation agreement.
This Agreement specifies the transfer of credit from the LSC Associate Degree named above to
the UW-S Bachelor’s Degree named above in recognition that the LSC program prepares
students for the admission to this Bachelor’s degree program. The underlying assumption for
this Agreement is that LSC provides a foundation of coursework and the University provides the
upper-level courses required within the Bachelor’s degree program.
LSC students who successfully complete the Human Services Associate degree named above
and wishing to transfer to the University of Wisconsin-Superior will be awarded the following
credits toward a Bachelor of Science Social Work Degree.

Requirements and Considerations:
Students from LSC must have completed the above-named program with a cumulative grade
point average of at least 2.3 and up to 4.0 for consideration for transfer under the terms of this
document.
LSC general education/breadth courses in communications, social sciences, mathematics and
natural science may transfer in to fulfill UW-Superior general education requirements in these
areas. All UW-Superior general education core and knowledge category requirements not met
by transfer credits must be completed.
A minimum of 15 credits from the program named above (LSC) may be transferred in as listed
above and counted towards the social work degree.
Other credits from LSC may come in as credits toward graduation, but do not fit in a
particular category in relation to the social work degree.
Elective courses taken at LSC which are not listed in this agreement will be reviewed by the
faculty of the UW-Superior degree program named above on a case by case basis.
Sixty-four to sixty-five (64-65) total credits are required to complete the bachelor’s degree
named above.
A minimum of 30 credits must be earned at UW-Superior in order to be awarded any degree
from UW-Superior. The last 12 credits must be taken at UW-Superior.
Students must maintain a 2.5/4.0 grade point average in upper division courses to be eligible for
the bachelor’s degree named above.
Students are required to complete a final internship and senior research project to fulfill
graduation requirements for the bachelor’s degree named above.
Students are required to apply to be accepted into the Social Work Major by filing an application
with an academic advisor before entering SO W 340 Methods of Practice I, and SO W 341

to other degree programs offered at UW-Superior may transfer to the University only those
credits recognized under the current UW System-Transfer Guidelines as documented on the
Transfer Information System web site at http://www.uwsa.edu/tis/.
