Due to the success of the BNZ and GHD sponsored Aussie Road trip of 2013, INZ has now planned a
10 day American road trip for 18-28 November 2014. This will start at the American Irrigation
Association 2 day trade show in Phoenix, include a visit to the Hoover Dam and a night in Las Vegas
(to check out amenity irrigation!) followed by a trip through Californian irrigation heartland – up the
Central Valley to San Francisco. The draft tour itinerary is below – note this will be subject to change
as the detail is finalised. Highlights include - the Irrigation Training Research Centre (San Luis
Obispo); the Centre for Irrigation Technology (Fresno); a range of Irrigation District infrastructure,
groundwater recharge and environmental restoration projects; a number of innovative irrigators
thrown in along the way. A conservative Indicative cost for the 10 days is NZ$6,500 to include flights,
travel, trade show entry, food and accommodation and all activities along the way! Confirmation is
required by 3rd October 2014 and places are limited to 25 (note the opportunity will also been made
available to members of our sister organisation’s across the ditch… so get in quick).
