FOG 1 Day Program - Diocese of Pittsburgh

advertisement
A One Day Program
The Family of God religious emblem is designed to help young girls in scouting (2nd and 3rd
graders) and their families get closer to God. We at the Pittsburgh Diocese developed an
outline for a 1 day retreat like program for those with busy schedules or groups that don’t have
enough girls in them to offer it for a group type setting.
Attached you will find the outline of the 6 chapters in the workbook. Each chapter has marked
a particular activity that has been picked that allows you to do the award in a shorter time
frame. This requires a minimum of 4 people presenting the award to the group of girls. Each
adult picks a chapter or two to present. Then using a “round robin” format, the girls are placed
into groups. The girls will go to the presenters to hear about the set chapter that was chosen.
The girls don’t necessarily have to go in order by chapter in this format. You could have the 1st
group doing chapter 1 and the 2nd group doing chapter 2, then after 20 minutes to ½ hour, each
group will switch and do another chapter i.e. Group 1 now doing Chapter 2 and Group 2 doing
Chapter 1.
Approximately halfway through, a snack was offered of healthy choices which go along with the
nutrition guidelines that area a part of the award. You continue the award using the chapter
outline until all 6 chapters are completed. At the completion of the 6 chapters, you can have a
parish priest present the girls with awards at a Mass or it can be presented at an awards
ceremony.
In this outline you will find a copy of:
 Outline for the day
 Opening Prayer Service
 Award Ceremony
 Hail Mary Prayer Card
 Prayer to St. Agnes Prayer Card
Each girl must have their own Family of God workbook. Workbooks can be obtained from the
Catholic Committee on Scouting (CCOS) office. Completed applications must be turned in to
the CCOS office to receive medals. All applications must have all needed signatures and cost of
the medal. Special arrangements may be made to obtain the medals by contacting the CCOS
office.

Patron Saint for Girl Scout
Dear St. Agnes,
We ask that you to plead to our Lord,
to guide us today in our work and in

to be a sister to everyone,
to be prepared for what may come.
Aid us in being true Girl Scouts living out
our promise,
our law,
our signs and symbols.
Pray for all Girl Scouts both old and new
to confidently embrace our values to
be true.
Amen.
