COMBINED BACHELOR OF SCIENCE/MASTER OF ARTS DEGREE PROGRAM IN
ECONOMICS
The combined degree program allows students to apply up to twelve credits towards both
their undergraduate and graduate degrees, thereby saving time and expense in achieving both
degrees. Students in the program can complete both degrees in slightly more than nine semesters.
The combined degree program prepares students for professional careers in economic and
empirical analysis in government, business, financial and non-profit institutions. The program
would also provide additional preparation for those students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. A

The combined program is available to undergraduate students in the Bachelor of Science
in Economics program who are in their junior year (56 credit hours); who have completed Eco
300, Eco 301 and Eco 320; and who have a cumulative overall grade point average of 3.2 or
higher. Students do not need to take the Graduate Record Examination. Students should
complete the informational form, provide a written statement describing their educational career
goals, and fulfill all requirements for applying for the Master of Arts in Economics degree,
including three letters of recommendation. Applications will be individually reviewed by the
M.A. Admissions Committee of the Department of Economics. Students should begin the
