Polypropylene (PP) POLYPROPYLENE is monofilament synthetic non-absorbable suture. Thanks to its homogeneous and smooth surface it penetrates tissue surface easily. It has good tensile strength. Needle stabile in needle holder. Atraumatic combinations of Polypropylene are available in a range of gauge sizes and lengths, non-needled or attached to different types and sizes of single and double stainless steel needles. Depending on size, it can be dyed blue or black. Navy blue colour is used on single and collective packaging. Polypropylene complies with the requirements of European Pharmacopoeia for sterile, non-absorbable, monofilament sutures. INDICATIONS AND USE Combination of threads Polypropylene and needles are used according to kind and size of the wound, surgical procedures and techniques, experience of surgeon and condition of the patient. Polypropylene are intended for use in general all tissue, children’s, plastic surgery, cardiovascular and neurosurgical procedures. CONTRAINDICATIONS None known. PRECAUTIONS As with any foreign body prolonged contact of any suture with body fluids, such as those found in urinary tracts or circulatory system may cause contamination. Using Polypropylene sutures may cause minimal initial inflammatory which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue. Care should be taken to avoid damaging the surface of the material. SIDE EFFECT Using Polypropylene sutures may cause minimal initial inflammatory. As with any foreign body prolonged contact of any suture with tissue may cause wound contamination and infection. STERILITY Sutures are sterilized by ethylene oxide gas. Do not use if package is opened or damaged. Do not resterilize. Discard opened, unused sutures. In closed packages expiry date is guaranteed till the date on the package. STORAGE Sutures should be storage in original packages, away from moisture and direct heat, below 32 °C. Do not use after expiry date.
