UNICEF Private Fundraising & Partnerships Division, Geneva Temporary Appointment (August 1 2015 ‒ July 31 2016) Specialist, Key Market Support, P3 Global Philanthropy Overview The Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR) section within PFP works with National Committees and UNICEF country offices to maximize income and drive income growth. There are five units within the PSFR section, including Global Philanthropy. The role of the Global Philanthropy team is to drive income growth from major donors and the foundation sector. The unit leads the development of these new areas and will support countries to grow these income streams as well as developing relationships at a global level with high value individual supporters and large-scale international foundations. The post holder will work with the Chief of Global Philanthropy in providing strategic support and capacity building to key national committees seeking to accelerate growth of major donor and / or foundation revenue streams during the period of the engagement. Work will be undertaken in close coordination with relevant National Committees. Responsibilities include: in-depth research into lead major donor and foundation prospects; identification of best channels and methodology for cultivation of identified key prospects; collaboration and coordination with UNICEF programme division and relevant country offices in preparation of detailed pitch documents and proposals; in-depth support for strategic initiatives creating innovative giving vehicles for philanthropic giving in priority countries. Works with the Manager, Major Donors and Chief, Global Philanthropy to develop and implement support plans to key National Committees seeking to accelerate growth of major donors and foundation revenue streams. 2. Undertakes research to identify and profile leading major donor and / or foundation prospects in coordination with priority National Committee markets, developing cultivation strategies for identified prospects in conjunction with National Committee fundraisers. 1 Key End Results Significant increase in major donor and foundation activities in assigned priority National Committee markets, with prospective pipeline of donors on 12-18 month time horizon. Key prospects lists, profiles and cultivation plans developed in assigned strategically important National Committee markets. 40% 3. Provide dedicated support to develop innovative funding platforms and products, in collaboration with National Committee teams in priority markets. Innovative funding mechanism to de developed and launched in partnership with at least one priority National Committee. Reporting Reports to the Manager, Major Donors (post currently under recruitment) and ad interim to Chief of Global Philanthropy Qualifications and Experience of Successful Candidate (a) EDUCATION A first degree required. (b) WORK EXPERIENCE Minimum five years experience in relatively senior role in major donor and / or foundation fundraising. Analogous business development or financial services experience will also be considered. Seniority indicated by management of others, and / or by direct relationship cultivation and management of high value partnerships. Preference will be given to candidates with experience managing partnerships and / or securing major gifts with a value in excess of USD $ 5 million. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in fundraising in more than one country context. Experience in German-speaking countries particularly valuable. Knowledge of the UN system, and familiarity with UNICEF programme activities are desirable. (c) LANGUAGES Fluency in English is required.
