Admissions
Position Description
This graduate assistant will be responsible for assisting the Undergraduate Admissions staff in multiple ways.
The successful candidate will be flexible in their job duties, but will be willing to assist in the daily office
functions. The candidate will successfully learn admissions requirements and apply them to interactions with
students through various environments to include; the office, fairs and presentations. This position includes
responsibility for various assigned projects through other parts of the office. This position engages in the
coordination and implementation of recruitment programs and events to include; Fall Preview, Be Complete,
Spring Preview and UNT Premiere Weekend. In addition, this position may help manage a geographical
territory, process admission applications, and serve on admission committees.
Qualifications:
Applicant must have completed a Bachelor’s degree and be accepted into a graduate program at the University
of North Texas. Preference will be given to applicants with experience and/or background in higher education,
student affairs, campus tours or applicants highly involved at their institution (past or present). Candidates
should be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing and have a general desire to learn about the
admissions process, policies and issues. Candidates should also have strong problem solving skills and the
ability to work independently.

Career Center - Peer/Transfer Advising
Position Description
The Career Center graduate assistant will experience the coordination and leading of the career peer advisor
program and facilitating outreach activities to transfer students and organizations. The graduate assistant will be
able to demonstrate their comprehension of the UNT Career Center services, the peer advising program and
transfer student initiatives by effectively communicating the services offered to help students on career related
topics. Each peer career advisor will be trained by the graduate assistant on resume, cover letter, job search,
social media, and other basic job search techniques and strategies. They will be responsible for arranging to
speak to students at New Student Orientation and at Transfer Student Orientation, and the graduate assistant
will work closely with the Transfer Center to determine who is in need of career development assistance.
Qualifications:
Applicant must have completed a Bachelor's degree and be accepted into a graduate program at the University
of North Texas. Preference will be given to applicants enrolled in either higher education administration or
counseling programs. Previous program planning and implementation experience is preferred.
Supervision/management backgrounds are highly encouraged. Knowledge of UNT student services and prior
use of Career Center is desirable.
Knowledge of basic career topics and presentation experience are needed.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Career Center with outreach and services to transfer students. Responsible for helping with Career
events and programming targeted towards transfer students. Supervise the career peer advisor program. Work
with Career Center staff to develop and implement activities and additional program ideas for the career peer
advisor program. Assist in marketing the Career Center services and refer students to the professional Career
Advising staff. Assist all staff in Career Center programming, activities, and events. Attend Career Center staff
meetings and Career Education Team meetings.
Other possible duties include: Facilitate staff meetings with career peer advisors; hire, train, and supervise 6
peer advisors; facilitate opportunities for career peer advisors to reach out to UNT transfer students and affinity
groups; facilitate student programming such as off campus housing events, UNT resource tables, Residence
Hall programming, general Career Center workshops, individual appointments, and assist in the creation of new
career peer advisor programming; present workshops on topics such as Resume and Cover Letter writing,
Interviewing Techniques, On-Campus Job Search, etc.; market career peer advisor program to UNT students

Center for Leadership & Service - Leadership Programs
Position Description
The Center for Leadership & Service provides opportunities and programs to develop students to become
engaged leaders in the global community. Programs include:
 Training for students and student organizations to develop personal and organizational leadership skills.
 Opportunities for students to engage in leadership positions by planning and executing programs that
impact the campus and the community.
 Short term and long-term service programs for UNT students.
The position will supervise Leadership programs and will assist the director in expanding and enhancing new
initiatives for students.
Qualifications:

Serves as the On-site coordinator for LeaderShape, an intensive leadership institute for 65 UNT students
held in May.

Housing and Residential Life – Academic Initiatives
Position Description
The Graduate Assistant for Academic Initiatives will provide support in the area of residential learning
communities (called REAL Communities), retention efforts, and partnering with academic and student support
areas for other academic initiatives.

The Learning Center
Position Description
The Graduate Assistant for Academic Success Programs provides a great opportunity to develop skills as an
instructor, mentor, and leader. The incumbent works with the Coordinator for Academic Success Programs to
develop areas and programs within the Learning Center. The primary role of the graduate assistant is to assist
with facilitating the Academic Success Program. In addition, the graduate assistant assists the Coordinator with
the administrative tasks involving Plan Your Semester, the Learning 101 Series and the Early Alert system. This
position also represents the Learning Center and its programs in outreach opportunities, orientations, and public
awareness events. This position includes flexible scheduling and opportunity for creativity and collaboration.

Multicultural Center
Position Description
The UNT Multicultural Center was established with the goal that it would be a place where students and
community members could experience the cultural wealth of the University, with a central purpose to teach
diversity through student engagement and promote student success. The Multicultural Center provides
resources, information, educational opportunities, and events that build inclusion focusing on five areas of
diversity: race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, interfaith, and disability.

Orientation and Transition Programs - Freshman Programs
Position Description
The Graduate Assistant for Freshman Programs will work to develop and implement educational programming
for students, serve as a representative on program committees, and create assessments based on program
expected learning outcomes. A major component of this assistantship is providing opportunities for the
graduate assistant to practice communication with diverse constituent groups, demonstrate event planning skills,
and increase their knowledge about a student’s transition into the university setting.
This position reports to the Assistant Director for Orientation & Transition Programs.
Qualifications

Orientation and Transition Programs – Mentoring, Eagle Camp, Class Cause, Class Identity
Position Description
The Graduate Assistant for Mentoring, Eagle Camp, Class Cause and Class Identity will gain knowledge and
understanding of working with transitional programs focused on ensuring student success. A major component
of this assistantship is providing opportunities for the graduate assistant to enhance leadership/supervision
skills, demonstrate event planning skills, and increase their knowledge about a student’s transition and
persistence through the university setting. This position reports to the Coordinator for Orientation & Transition
working with Mentoring, Eagle Camp, Class Cause and Class Identity.
Qualifications
Applicant must have completed a Bachelor's degree and be accepted into a graduate program at the University
of North Texas. Preference will be given to applicants with experience and/or background in programming,
supervision and orientation. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing and

Assist in the overall implementation of UNT’s extended orientation program, Eagle Camp. Duties and
responsibilities include but not limited to:
 Assisting in hiring, selection and supervision of Student Coordinators
 Playing an integral role in planning the logistics of each Eagle Camp session including camper recruitment,
check-in and camp locations, transportation, registration, entertainment, etc.
 Assist in hiring, training and supervising Eagle Camp Leaders
 Assist in overseeing entire Eagle Camp retreat from check-in on Day 1 to returning to campus on Day 3
Work closely with ACCESS Mentoring program, a campus-wide mentoring program for all UNT students. Duties
and responsibilities include but not limited to:
 Assisting with the coordination of all aspects of the Mentoring Program by Recruiting mentors,
Individually matching mentors with mentees, Writing and designing the monthly newsletter for mentors
and mentees, Addressing mentor and mentee concerns throughout the year
 Overseeing the planning of all Mentoring Events

Orientation and Transition Programs - Parent Programs
Position Description
The Graduate Assistant for Parent Programs is an integral part of the Office of Orientation and Transition
Programs team. This position reports to the Coordinator of Parent Programs. Parent programs include Parent
Orientation, the Parent Association, Family and Sibling Weekend, and Summer Send Off Parties.
The graduate assistant position requires an invested, creative and enthusiastic individual with strong verbal,
visual and written communication skills. This individual must be committed to working with students and their
parents to address collegiate transition issues. In addition to demonstrating knowledge about campus resources
to students and their families at Parent Orientation and other outreach opportunities, the GA will work with
Parent Programs to:
 Develop and implement educational programming for parents
 Create original materials to market Parent Orientation events
 Perform some public relations functions
 Coordinate logistics for large-scale events
 Draft newsletters

Orientation and Transition Programs - Transfer Center
Position Description
The Graduate Assistant for the Transfer Center is an integral part of the Orientation and Transition Programs
team. This position reports to the Coordinator of Orientation and Transition Programs responsible for the
Transfer Center. The Transfer Center promotes campuses resources and develops effective programs and
activities to help UNT transfer students make an easy transition to the University.
The assistantship is focused on providing the graduate assistant learning tools to demonstrate increased

Student Money Management Center
Position Description
To further the educational outreach, marketing, social media, and research efforts of the Student Money
Management Center. The center, an outreach program administered by the Division of Student Affairs, provides
tools and solutions students need to achieve financial independence. Team members partner with students from
their first day on campus through graduation to strengthen and expand their money management knowledge and

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The Graduate Assistant serves under the supervision of the Program Coordinator as the primary coordinator and
contact for the center’s outreach, marketing, and social media efforts. Secondary support will be required for
research and consultative services. The Graduate Assistant will also work closely with S2S Peer Mentors in the
development of educational programs and initiatives.
Marketing Outreach Duties:
• Coordinate marketing activities, including print and online forums.
• Regularly update all social media outlets.
• Coordinate blog activities, postings, and content management.

University Union - University Program Council (UPC)
Position Description
The Graduate Assistant (GA) will serve on the advising team for the University Program Council (UPC), the
programming board of the University of North Texas. UPC plans and implements around 50 events per
semester that range from speakers, films, to trips off campus. As an advisor for UPC, the applicant will have
responsibility of advising student leaders, assisting students in program development and implementation, and
assisting with assessment projects.
The GA will serve on departmental committees and task forces as assigned by supervisory personnel and will
have opportunities to create and implement intentional experiences that support the University Union and the
University mission. There will also be opportunities to present programs, participate in personal and
professional development activities, and assist with special projects when requested.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Advisement of Student Groups – Provides advisement to the University Program Council (UPC), which
include, but are not limited to, on-site event support and implementation; recruitment and selection;
officer and member development; advisor relations; risk management; facilities use and reservations;
university operating procedures; and overall student group development.
2. Programming – Plan and implement large-scale programming for the University of North Texas campus,
which include budgeting, contracting, promotions and marketing, event management, and assessment.
Programs may include, but are not limited to, First Flight, Homecoming, University Day, Union Fest,
Eagle Insomnia, Friday Night at the Hill, various resource fairs, workshops, leadership conferences, and
retreats.
3. Operations – Be familiar with and knowledgeable of University Union procedures and operating policies,
and professionally communicate them to various tenants and guests as it relates to reservations, room setup, custodial services, ticketing, solicitation, and emergency preparedness.
4. Committee Responsibilities – Represent University Union on departmental and Division committees as
assigned.
5. Assessment & Research – Support and administer program or department assessments to provide
information on student learning outcomes. Research information and resources for risk management;
programming board services and training; recognition programs; and compliance with Council for the
Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS).
6. Administrative Responsibilities – Assist with record keeping and historical archiving; assessment; and
