2015 Massachusetts Service and Volunteerism Awards
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
Due Thursday, May 7 by 5:00pm
Individuals, organizations and corporations across Massachusetts demonstrate the power of service
and volunteerism every day. The Massachusetts Service Alliance (MSA) invites you to nominate an
outstanding Individual (two categories: Getting Things Done and Lifetime Achievement), Higher
Ed/Community Service Partnership, Service-Learning Partnership, Corporate Partnership, or
Nonprofit Volunteer Program for the 2015 Massachusetts Service and Volunteerism Awards.
MSA will pay tribute to the winners in each of the six categories below that demonstrate the diverse
nature of service and volunteerism in the Commonwealth. The awards will be presented during a
special Awards Luncheon Ceremony at the 2015 Massachusetts Conference on Service and
Volunteering on Monday, June 1st at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel.
Nominations are due Thursday, May 7, 2015 by 5:00pm. No exceptions. See submissions
instructions below.
You may nominate more than one person or organization but you must fill out a separate
nomination form for each.

The Awards Categories
Getting Things Done in Massachusetts
Recognizes an exceptional individual in one of two subcategories:


A current AmeriCorps*, Commonwealth Corps, or Senior Corps member who has demonstrated
outstanding commitment and service over and above the requirements of their routine service
assignments, or
A Massachusetts AmeriCorps*, Commonwealth Corps or Senior Corps alumnus/alumna who did
their service in Massachusetts and whose commitment to embody service beyond their term of
service continues to bring about positive community change.
*Includes: AmeriCorps State, AmeriCorps National, AmeriCorps VISTA and AmeriCorps NCCC
Higher Education Community Partnership Innovator Award
Recognizes a Massachusetts college or university in partnership with a local school or community-based
organization. This award seeks to identify innovative approaches to developing and implementing highly
impactful, mutually beneficial, partnerships between campuses and communities. The
campus/community partnership selected will be a long-term, reciprocal relationship that reflects mutual
investment and benefits for both service recipients and college student volunteers.
Outstanding Service-Learning Partnership
Recognizes excellence in K-12 service-learning by a group of students, teachers/facilitators, and their
partners. The service-learning experiences should include opportunities for students to:
•
acquire and apply new academic knowledge/skills;
•
investigate and understand problems/needs in their community; and
•
engage with partners to address those problems/needs.
Outstanding Corporate-Nonprofit Partnership
Recognizes an exceptional collaboration between a business/corporation and a nonprofit whose
common goal has resulted in significant community impact.
Outstanding Non-Profit Volunteer Program
Recognizes a non-profit organization (501(c)3), municipality, or government program that has excelled in
the administration of a volunteer or corps based program (i.e. AmeriCorps, Commonwealth Corps,
Senior Corps) and through its extraordinary efforts has made significant changes and improvements in
the condition of the community.
Lifetime Achievement Award
Recognizes a lifelong commitment to volunteerism and community service at a variety of levels.
Nominees must have made a substantial and sustained impact in the community as a result of their
service efforts.
Nomination Process
Eligibility, Judging and Submission
Eligibility
 Individuals, nonprofits and companies/businesses may be nominated in only one category.
 Self-nominations are accepted.
 Board members and staff of MSA, its awards committee and judges are not eligible to
nominate or be nominated.
 Service and/or volunteerism must have been performed in Massachusetts.
 Information from nominations may be released to the media and elected officials.
Judging
MSA will convene a selection committee composed of stakeholders in the service, volunteerism and
non-profit sector to carefully review all complete nominations. Based on the set criteria, all
nominees are given a score. Those with the highest scores will be selected. Consideration will be
given to geographic diversity.
Submission Instructions
 You may nominate more than one person or organization but you must fill out a separate
nomination form for each.
 Nominations will be accepted through the Massachusetts Service Alliance via an email form.
 While electronic submissions are highly encouraged, completed forms can also be mailed to:

 Completed nomination forms must be received by 5:00pm on Thursday, May 7, 2015.
