CLASS CODE: 0250 CERTIFIED PERSONNEL CLASS TITLE: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST RESPONSIBLE TO: DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION BASIC FUNCTION: To support instruction by serving as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide consultation, intervention, assessment and comprehensive psychological services to students in LaRue County Schools. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide direct consultation services for students experiencing academic and/or behavioral difficulties by participating in Teacher Assistance Teams or collaborating with school staff in identifying difficulties, developing and implementing appropriate interventions. Provide indirect consultation services for teachers, administrators, and parents by supporting staff implementation of policies and procedures, providing school-wide consultation and training and disseminating relevant information. Provide consultation services to parents by providing and interpreting information (such as psychiatric diagnoses) and assisting them in the intervention and Special Education processes. Conduct appropriate screening assessment measures for academic and attention needs as needed to gather data to use in intervention strategy development. Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and assist school staff in the development and implementation of Behavior Support Plans. Follows LaRue County Schools Policies and Procedures in regarding psychoeducational assessment for students initially referred and conduct appropriate evaluations (attend ARC, collect data from relevant sources, coordinate and conduct appropriate psychoeducational assessments, compile Integrated Assessment Report, communicate results to ARC, and assist in the development and implementation of the Individual Education Plan). Facilitate re-evaluation process (identify students due for reevaluation, compiling previous assessment and current progress information into the Re-evaluation Record Review form, participating in ARC meeting to discuss eligibility and reevaluation needs, assessing as needed, compiling assessment report and attending ARC to communicate results) Assist school and district staff in regards to Special Education students who have transferred from another school district. Review previous school records, assist schools in implementing current IEP or placing students on Temporary Placement, determining student’s eligibility for services under Kentucky Guidelines, and initiate reevaluation process when records are incomplete or inconsistent with Kentucky requirements. Act in accordance with exiting ethical standards and regulations, develop and maintain Due Process records and confidentiality. Seek Professional Development opportunities. Participate in scheduled district special education staff meetings. Facilitates social skills group counseling. Chair ARC meetings for Preschool, Head Start and The Life Connections students. Collaborate with other district departments and community services. Assist the Director of Special Education with training district personnel on issues related to district policies and procedures, testing and behavioral issues. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
