YOUNG ARAB VOICES PROGRAMME – PHASE 3 CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST - EGYPT YAV3/CEI/2013/EG THE PROJECT: Young Arab Voices is a joint initiative of the Anna Lindh Foundation and the British Council. It was launched in October 2011 in response to the needs of young people across the region. The overarching aim of the programme is to develop skills and opportunities for youth-led debate and dialogue. ANOTHER YEAR FOR DEBATE: In its first two years, some 50,000 young people have been engaged in face-to-face debating activity through a dynamic cascade of training and skills development. This activity has been supported by over 30 national partners drawn from across government and civil society and through a network of debate clubs in universities, schools and NGOs. The programme is currently active in Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco. EXPANDING THE NETWORK IN EGYPT: The Young Arab Voices programme is launching a Call for Expression of Interest in Egypt to identify four organisations working with young people in the areas of education, cultural and community action, and have the ability to act as "hubs" to similar organisations in order to implement a number of activities related to the Young Arab Voices project in Egypt from 1st June 2013 until 30, March 2014 with financial support for each partner. TERMS OF PARTICIPATION: Organisations interested to apply for this call have to meet the following criteria: Being an Egyptian structure registered under Egyptian law that works with young people in the cultural, educational or voluntary sectors, with experience in youth engagement and organising large and medium scale events with multiple partners. CO-FINANCED BY IN ASSOCIATION WITH WITH THE SUPPORT OF Being able to act as "hub" for other organisations working in the same area and willing to take part in the project. Have the technical and organisational capacity to work in different geographical parts of Egypt, in rural and urban settings with diverse young people from various socioeconomic groups. Having the enthusiasm and commitment to take part in an ambitious regional project run by two reputable organisations. REQUIRED TASKS AND DELIVERABLES: Successful candidate organisations will perform the following tasks between 1 July 2013 and 30 March 2014: Availability to attend meetings, trainings and other regional events within Egypt and abroad to receive information and training. The creation of several Debate Clubs to organise debates and ensure the sustainability of the project beyond March 2014. The organisation of at least ten cascade training on debating skills and management for over 20 trainers from different organisations across the country. The organisation of at least 10 to 15 debates on a large or medium scale with an audience of at least 50 people for each debate in different regions of Egypt from various socio-economic backgrounds. The frequent participation in discussion forums and online platforms of YAV, as well as the dissemination of the content of the discussions and the project activities in general through the media and other interested parties. Recommend the best participants in the debates to take part in debates with other young people in Egypt, regionally and internationally. The availability of staying in regular contact with the Anna Lindh Foundation and the British Council for all conceptual, methodological and logistical issues. Ability to provide monthly activities and financial report, including qualitative and quantitative results. HOW TO APPLY?
