DIT Travel Scholarship in Renewable Energy
2016
DIT Foundation is delighted to announce the launch of the 2016 DIT Travel Scholarship in
Renewable Energy.
The DIT Travel Scholarship in Renewable Energy provides an opportunity for a highachieving DIT Masters or PhD student/recent graduate to pursue a practical work
assignment in a developing country in the area of renewable energy. The recipient will work
for a period of up to 3 months on a project managed by the international charity Renewable
World.
The DIT Travel Scholarship in Renewable Energy is worth €10,000 which will cover all costs
associated with the scholarship including travel and living expenses. The timing of the 3
month placement in 2015 is flexible and will be worked out with the successful candidate.

Closing date for receipt of applications: Friday 27th November at 5pm. Applications will
only be accepted by email to foundation@dit.ie.
Interviews will take place on Friday 11th December at DIT Bolton Street. The successful
candidate will be chosen by a selection panel. Candidates will be notified by the 15th
December. There is no flexibility with the interview date and candidates must attend in
person.

Eligibility Criteria
All applicants are encouraged to read through the past blog posts from the previous 4 travel
scholars prior to applying to get an understanding of the role.
To be eligible to apply students/recent graduates must:

Be a full time Masters / PhD student or recent Masters/PhD graduate at Dublin
Institute of Technology with a 2:1 average or higher – Recent graduates must have
graduated in the past 2 academic years.

Have an interest in Renewable Energy and the developing world

Students/Recent

however
engineering/technical background is an advantage.

Applicants must be available to travel for the 3 month placement in 2015 – timings
are flexible.

A short list of applicants will be invited to interview on Friday 11th December. The
shortlist will be prepared by the interview panel.

The successful candidate will be notified by December 15th
DIT Foundation will accept all applications by email and shortlist all candidates that satisfy
the selection criteria.
The selection panel will consist of the following:

Representative from DIT Foundation
A representative from the College of Engineering & Built Environment
The decision of the selection panel is final.
