OPEN TO: All first study students aged 15 or 16 on 31 August 2015.
REQUIREMENTS: One work or two contrasting works, at least one of which is to be played from memory. The time
limit is 10 minutes, including walking on and off the stage and tuning (ie not more than 9 minutes playing time).
ACCOMPANISTS: Official accompanists will be provided for those students whose lessons are at College on
Saturdays. Half hour rehearsals with the official accompanists for each entrant will take place (in lessons where
possible) on Saturdays 16 and 23 January. Students with midweek lessons will need to find/book/use their own
accompanists unless prior agreement has been given by the Head of Junior Programmes for the use of a JD
accompanist before the closing date.
NB You must hand in the original of your piano accompaniment with your entry form (this is what will be used by
the accompanist in the competition performance and so photocopies cannot be accepted). Incomplete entry forms
or those without accompaniments (unless you are a pianist or are performing only unaccompanied pieces) will not
be accepted – please allow yourself sufficient time to finalise repertoire with your teacher, and to get your form
signed by your teacher and a parent/guardian in advance of the deadline.
