SCORING
22.Scoring for the Crown - Scoring of the contestants is based upon an Olympic
scoring system (1-10). Fractions of points, such as 8.6 and 9.4, are allowed. The
contestant with the highest number of points, after totaling the Judges’ combined
scores in the categories of Casual Wear, Evening Wear, Personal Interview,
Introduction and Final Question, wins the crown in each pageant division.
Accordingly, those contestants with the 2nd, 3rd, etc. highest number of points will
win the title of first runner up, second runner up, etc. In the event of a tie, the
highest and lowest scores awarded to the two contestants are dropped. The
remaining scores are added together, and the contestant with the highest number of
total points is the winner. In the event that the tie is still not broken, the winner will
be chosen from the highest total score from the Personal Interview.
23. Scoring for Special Competitions - For each special competition, the three
contestants with the highest number of points win the first, second and third place
trophy. The special competitions are: Miss Photogenic, Outstanding Artist (Princess
and Young Miss only), Most Promising Model, and Outstanding Talent.
In the case
of a tie, both the highest and lowest scores awarded to the two contestants are
dropped. The remaining scores are added together and the contestant with the
highest number of points is awarded the trophy.
In the event the tie is not broken,
the judges will determine the winner. In the event that there are less than 3
contestants in a particular pageant, only a first place trophy shall be awarded.
24.Scoring for Most Promising Model – Unlike the other special competitions, the
Judges score the Most Promising Model competition differently. The Judges decide
who is their first, second and third choice. Numerical scores are not given by the
Judges. The following scores are given to those receiving first, second and third
place ratings are as follows:
a. For each 1st place rating – contestant is given 17 points;
b. For each 2nd place rating – contestant is given 10 points;
c. For each 3rd place rating – contestant is given 4 points.
25. Scoring for Miss Congeniality – In each Pageant, the contestants vote for their
1st through 5th choice for Miss Congeniality. A winner is the contestant who receives
the most 1st place votes in her pageant. If there is a tie between two or more
contestants, the pageant tabulators will look to the 2nd place votes. Of the two or
more contestants who are part of the tie, the winner will be the contestant who
received the most 2nd place votes. If there is still a tie between two or more
contestants, the pageant tabulators will look to the 3rd place votes, and follow the
same process until a winner is identified.
