The BBC Radio Drama Readings Unit welcomes
unsolicited submissions from writers new to radio
for their annual series Opening Lines, for
broadcast on BBC Radio 4. We’ll be announcing
the next submissions window on the BBC
Writersroom website
(www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom). Stories submitted
outside the submissions window will not be read.
We recommend visiting the Opening Lines
programme pages to read transcripts of the five
stories which featured in the 2013 series
(http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007tmq5).

Unsolicited manuscripts read. Feedback not

 BBC Scotland – Drama
We will read unsolicited short fiction from writers
who are either Scottish or based in Scotland.
 BBC Northern Ireland – Drama
We will on occasion be looking to showcase new
Irish writing. Please call us prior to sending in any
short story submissions.

only have slots for 9 stories per year (3 x 3
themed series) but we will endeavour to read your
