Personnel Appointment-Nancy Koederitz- Assumption of GIS Responsibilities
WHEREAS, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist I role is vacant due to the
resignation of the incumbent; and
WHEREAS, Nancy Koederitz has served as the Bernards Township Zoning Officer since 2009 and;
WHEREAS, the Township Engineer has deemed it appropriate for certain aspects of the GIS
Specialist I role to be performed by Nancy Koederitz due to her technical skills and abilities; and
WHEREAS, these responsibilities will be conducted in addition to those of the role of the Zoning
Officer; and
WHEREAS, the Township Administrator, Township Engineer and Human Resources Officer wish to
assign Nancy Koederitz the responsibility for certain responsibilities to support the Township’s
Geographic Information Systems work.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Township Committee of the Township of
Bernards, that Nancy Koederitz be assigned to perform Geographic Information Systems support
responsibilities for the additional compensation of $0.96 per hour.

Explanatory Statement: The incumbent in the GIS Specialist I position resigned earlier this year. The Township Engineer
has evaluated the GIS needs of the Township and the current staff to determine how to best align and assign the
responsibilities to support the Township. Ms. Koederitz has knowledge of GIS capabilities as well as a technical
background. As such, the Township Engineer has determined that assignment of aspects of the GIS work, including use of
the software to create maps and reports and the maintenance of GIS datasets, to Ms. Koederitz will serve the Township and
Engineering Department in an effective manner. Ms. Koederitz is being granted a salary increase to recognize the
responsibilities she will assume. Because she will no longer be receiving a stipend for her work as the Township LEED
Professional, the cost to the Township for this new assignment is essentially cost-neutral.
