Organization work and a condition assessment of the Society’s
archives at the at the University of Baltimore’s Langsdale Library
are both ongoing. The condition assessment follows the
conservation protocol of the National Park Service Museum
Handbook, and includes a review of the facility (security, fire, theft),
environment (temperature, relative humidity, light), and
object-specific conservation in an acid-free environment.
Recommendations to ensure the long-term preservation of the
collection will be forthcoming.
Secretary J. Patrick Warner has provided a large box of Society
documents, which will be accessioned into the archives. Society
officers and chapters are encouraged to transfer records to the
Historian for preservation in the archives by contacting him at
