ERIC TRIDAS and SISTER GILCHRIST COTTRILL, CE: Executive Functions" February 25, 2012 UPDATED INFORMATION! Executive functions impact an individual’s capacity to perform in an independent, purposeful and goal oriented fashion. In this seminar, Dr. Tridas will describe the relationship between executive functions, ADHD, dyslexia and other learning challenges. The clinical manifestations of these common disorders will be reviewed along with the strategies used to manage them. NEW!! Sister Gilchrist Cottrill, CE, will also be joining us. She is internationally known, and has trained hundreds of teachers to lead interventions that impact executive functions. She will share strategies to promote executive functions in the classroom. These strategies were part of a teacher training/ master level program and school consultation project that included 42 schools on the West Coast of Florida and was coordinated by Sister Gilchrist Cottrill. She has also developed 3 schools for children with special learning needs and currently directs one of them, Ave Maria Preparatory School in Bradenton, FL. He is a board certified pediatrician who specializes in the diagnosis and management of developmental and behavioral conditions such as ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and other neurodevelopmental and behavioral problems. Dr. Tridas has resided in the Tampa Bay area since 1982. He completed his fellowship in Ambulatory Pediatrics, child development and learning disabilities at the Children's Hospital Medical Center in Boston. During that time he held an appointment as a Teaching Fellow at Harvard University Medical School. Dr. Tridas completed his residency in Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Buffalo. He graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, School of Medicine in 1977. Dr. Tridas is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Family Practice at the University Of South Florida School Of Medicine . Dr. Tridas is also the State Medical Director for Pediatric Health Choice Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (P-PEC) facilities. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society for Developmental Pediatrics, the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine and the Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. Dr. Tridas is President of the International Dyslexia Association.
