At the same time and to expedite project ramp up, DCB is conducting a procurement exercise for a number of services, including this invite to quote. DigitalCity Business [DCB] is the business driver for DigitalCity: its mission is to create a successful, vibrant and sustainable digital and creative supercluster in the Tees Valley. One of DCB’s tasks within this overall remit is to deliver cluster development activities across the Tees Valley, with a new and special focus on satellite activity in Darlington, Hartlepool, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton. It would now like to invite quotes for the role of animateur for the Redcar and Cleveland satellite, which will involve extensive working in and around the localities, specifically at The Palace Hub, a digital and creative focused business accommodation building. The post is being offered as a freelance contract up to the 31st March 2015: it anticipated it will require a commitment of approximately one to two days a week, irregular hours, and evening and weekend work to support activities being driven by the satellite initiative. Key activities will be - Acting as the satellite’s ‘animateur’ or ‘evangelist’ to drive take-up and engagement with the satellite initiative by – Digital and creative businesses in the borough Businesses in key ‘non-digital’ sectors that can benefit from the ‘digital advantage’ Other enterprise channels [for example schools and colleges] Promoting the DigitalCity culture of openness, networks, cooperation and collaboration Being DigitalCity’s ‘eyes and ears’ to help ensure the satellite initiative is responsive and alert to needs, developments and feedback, in order to deliver as effectively and efficiently as possible Helping to organise satellite events, surgeries and workshops Driving the take-up of DigitalCity cluster membership, DCB’s products and services, and contributing to their the ongoing development The animateur needs these key abilities - Excellent organisational skills Excellent person-to-person skills Genuine track record and experience in the digital area Personal business experience in the digital sector Ability to work independently, including setting and meeting deadlines Ambition The ability to fit in with a hard-working, results-focused DCB team: in this regard – The animateur will have targets, set in response to local conditions, and which will include [but not be limited to] digital and creative businesses engaged, cluster membership take-up, service and product take-up, colleges engaged, and non-digital businesses engaged The right prior knowledge, track record and experience of DigitalCity could be an advantage, but is not mandatory The successful candidate will most likely have either a degree in an appropriate field, or equivalent experience. The total value of the contract will not exceed £20,000, with the animateur being engaged on an ‘as needed by DCB’ basis: applicants will be required as part of the application to state one day-rate, which must accommodate both work during normal and out-of-office working hours.
