Project description
& estimated
completion date
Describe your overall project including project goals.
Host two biannual elected official breakfasts on topics related to obesity prevention, resulting
in increased awareness about the role of elected officials in setting policy to enhance access
to healthy foods and opportunities for physical activity. Our goals include:
1) At least 1 of the breakfasts will educate on topics directly relating to overarching
strategies;
2) At least 8 elected officials or staff will attend each breakfast; and
3) At least 75% of attendees will agree that the information presented will be useful in
their work, that they came away with new information and ideas about how to play a
role in enhancing local policy.
Identify a timeline for completion of the project.
Both breakfasts will be completed by March 2014. This project is on-going.
How does this project impact health equity?
We will extend invitations to elected officials who represent jurisdictions with large numbers
of residents suffering health disparities; we will also endeavor to hold at least one of the
breakfasts in a disproportionately impacted neighborhood / district.
Population(s)

Population impacted depends on the policies being addressed and the area where those
policies go into effect.
Do any of these activities affect children aged 0-5? If so, please describe.
