Learning Styles
Howard Gardner has a theory about multiple intelligences. In his theory he says
that humans have eight different kinds of intelligences. He thinks that each of these
intelligences plays it’s own part in who you are and how you learn. This theory can be
applied to children age four to six because at this stage children are just really starting to
develop their cognitive skills and be able to understand the world without physically
having it in their hands. Using this theory you will be able to identify a child’s strengths
and weaknesses and you will be able to nurture their natural gifts.
The education of The Theory of Multiple Intelligences is helpful when it is
understood. The different kinds of multiple intelligences are useful depending on what
kind of project is being worked on. Knowing the idea of multiple intelligences will
contribute to the learner. Different types of intelligence and their benefits will go into
further detail. Intelligences and its benefits throughout life will show how important
intelligences are. One form of multiple intelligences is a Visual are those children are the
ones who could learn best by learning by looking at whatever it is they are doing. They
like to see what you are talking about in order to understand. They enjoy looking at
charts, graphs, maps, tables, illustrations, art, and puzzles, basically anything that catches
the eye. That is the way for visual learners to learn and to catch on to something.
I am intrapersonal because I understand myself and I know what I like and don’t
like. I am a planner I plan out everything in advice. I don’t like to procrastinate once I
am I assigned an assignment I start working on it immediately. I do not do will with
change of plans or a schedule it causes me anxiety because I am no longer in control, and

being in control is something I like to have. I am a visual learner, I have to be able to see
and touch learning new concepts. Math is challenging and difficult because even though
it is visual there are formulas and memorization involved which is hard for a visual
learner. I also learned by experience that having a learning disability makes you unique
but also has it challenges. I need remediation and practice to master a skill. Having a
learning disability has helped me be able to define my strengths and weaknesses.
Successful Intelligence is most effective when it balances all three of it’s,
analytical, creative and practical aspects (pg. 128 Successful Intelligence) ‘‘ Successful
intelligent people are flexible in adapting to the roles they need to fulfill. They recognize
that they will have to be change the way they work to fit the task and situation at hand
‘‘(pg. 153 Successful Intelligence) Componential intelligence refers to your ability to
problem solve and perform academic tasks. People with high analytical intelligence tend
to perform well on IQ tests. Creative intelligence is our ability to call upon existing
knowledge and skills to effectively handle new and unusual situation. People with
high creative intelligence have great insight, imagination, and are able to formulate
new ideas. Sternberg provides examples of people who are quite talented in one of these
areas but not so talented in the other two. In that sense, his approach to the field of
intelligence is somewhat like Howard Gardner's. However, you can see that Sternberg
does not focus on specific components of intelligence that are aligned with various
academic disciplines. He is far more concerned with helping people develop components
of intelligence that will help them to perform well in whatever they chose to do.

In conclusion, creative intelligence involves the ability to deal with new situations
using past experience. ‘’ Successfully Intelligent people actively seek out and later be
come, role models ‘‘(pg. 200 Successful Intelligence). I allow myself to make and
learn from my mistakes. I tend to seek and gain my creativity from other people.
After learning about Sternberg theory and multiple intelligence in class I now have a
better understanding of what type of person I am and my interest and dislikes.
