The development of fitness centres around the country has increased and more and more people are getting involved in a variety of exercises. The need for qualified fitness instructors is increasing rapidly. These instructors are versatile in what they can offer their clients and this is what makes them very employable as they are able to deliver safe and effective exercise programmes The role of the instructor is to meet the many different needs of the client by providing them with a safe and effective exercise programmes. Haringey 6th Form Centre’s Fitness suite has been open for a few years now and wants to help all of the people in Haringey get involved in exercise especially specific groups such as obese. You are a trainee personal trainer and you are considering setting up exercise courses for special populations in an identified area. It is your task, as part of the fitness team, to provide information on how the body works. Task 7: produce and information leaflet about energy systems and the sports and exercises that they are associated with Task 8: Design an exercise regime with an explanation and analysis of how different muscle movements utilise different energy systems BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3: Sports Unit 1 The Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport: Assignment 3 Anne Bedford Task 7 This will provide evidence for criterion P7 Produce an information leaflet for the Fitness Centre that describes the three types of energy system and the types of sports exercise associated with each system. Your leaflet should include the following information: 1. An introduction explaining what is meant by an energy system and what ATP is 2. Describe each energy system: a. Say what it is b. How much ATP is made c. How long it can be used for d. The type of exercise that is associated with that energy system Task 8 This will provide evidence for criterion M4 and D4 As evidence for this you will need to: a. Describe/show exercises and the muscle movements they use together with the energy system used b. Produce written explanations/analyses Note: you will also be videoed demonstrating your exercises and offering an explanation for their use. Design an exercise regime that uses all three energy systems, together with an explanation of how each energy system is used and why; and an analysis of how the muscle movements correspond to energy release. For M4: Explaining your regime: it will need to tie a series of exercises to the use of each energy system e.g. how plyometric exercises use the creatine-phosphate system For D4: Analysing your regime: you will need to give a detailed view of: How the exercises stimulate different muscle groups and movements How these draw on different energy systems Explain how long each particular exercise needs to be conducted for Explain the intervals needed between exercises in order to ensure the correct energy system is used BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3: Sports Unit 1 The Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport: Assignment 3 Anne Bedford P7 M4 D2 Assessment Grading Criteria Describe the three different energy systems and their use in sport and exercise activities Explain the three different energy systems and their use in sport and exercise activities Analyse the three different energy systems and their use in sport and exercise activities Assessment and Grading Criteria Support When you see the word describe you should try and paint a picture in words to the reader. It is useful to always think that the reader of your script knows nothing and therefore you have to teach the reader the knowledge that you have through your assignment. When you are asked to explain you should write in detail giving examples; i.e you could provide an example from the world of sport of an athlete who has had the injury giving the causes of the injury to the player, you may also like to write about the treatment that could be offered to your player. When you see the word analyse you should explore the main ideas stating how they are related, why they are important and how each one contributes to the main area of interest BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3: Sports Unit 1 The Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport: Assignment 3 Anne Bedford Assignment 3: Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport (Part III) Student Final Hand in Date Task 7: Leaflet P7 Describe the three different energy systems and their use in sport and exercise activities Feedback 1st draft (met/refer) Final draft (met/refer) BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3: Sports Unit 1 The Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport: Assignment 3 Anne Bedford Task 8: Exercise programme M4 Describe the different classifications of joints D2 Identify the location of the major muscles in the human body Assessor Signature Date Student Signature Date DO NOT THROW AWAY YOUR MARKED FIRST DRAFT.
