 All applicants with a Specific Learning Difficulty must submit a full psycho-educational
assessment completed by an appropriately qualified psychologist. The report should be dated
no older than three years i.e. on or after 1 February 2013. Scores for general ability, cognitive
processing and attainment should be reported from tests conducted on or after
1 February 2013.
 In addition, this Summary Sheet may be attached and should indicate scores for general ability,
literacy and mathematical attainments, and any additional disabilities.
 It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all sections of the Summary Sheet are
completed. Remember to keep a photocopy for your personal records.
DARE criteria for Specific Learning Difficulty– Dyslexia:
1. general ability (FSIQ, GAI or GCA are acceptable) falls at or above a standard score of 90;
2. attainment at or below the 10th percentile/SS 81 in two literacy areas from:
 Single word reading / identification
 Reading accuracy
 Reading comprehension
 Reading speed / fluency
 Pseudoword decoding
 Spelling
 Writing speed
DARE criteria for Specific Learning Difficulty – Dyscalculia:
1. general ability (FSIQ, GAI or GCA are acceptable) falls at or above a standard score of 90;
2. attainment at or below the 10th percentile/SS 81 in two mathematical areas from:
 Mathematical reasoning and problem solving
 Mathematical computation
Please note that Written Expression has been removed from the
eligibility criteria for Specific Learning Difficulty Dyslexia and will not
be acceptable for DARE eligibility for entry 2016.
