Institute of Design and Visual Arts
Overview
The Institute of Design and Visual Arts is one of the most advanced institutes in the university, with a flourishing history of education in Fine Arts. This Institute was conceivedand initiated by Miss Naseem Hafeez Qazi in 1955 as a small department.
Since then, it has produced not only leading female artists of Pakistan but also fine teachers.
In accordance with the vision of Vice Chancellor Dr. Sabiha Mansoor to make the university one of the top-ranked arts institutions in the world, the department has been upgraded to an independent institute under the directorship of Mrs. Zammurd Safder during the year 2012. The institute aims to impart the skills and knowledge required in the contemporary world of art education and to encourage the creative abilities of students.
Throughout the year, our young artists have worked vigorously to train themselves in modern studio practices and methodology. They are fully trained now to enter the world of art as professionals.

Overview
The Textile Design Dept. was established in September 2012 at Lahore College for
Women University offering a four Years Bachelor’s Degree Program. This program has been Designed to train professionals in a practice that intertwines traditional skills like spinning and knitting with contemporary interdisciplinary strategies and cuttingedge digital technology.
We envision maintaining the vital balance between the inspirational and the technical, bringing together conceptual, production and critical experiences. For us, textile design is about personal development; we want our students to grow both creatively and practically so that they develop their own focus and approach to design.

Introduction & History
Dept. of Interior Design was established in September 2012 at Lahore College for
Women University offering a 4 Years Degree Program. This Department offers
Academic excellence, personalized attention and a wide spectrum of interior design courses. We have everything one needs to earn a degree — and the proper foundation and skills for an exciting career.
This Program has been designed to help students explore materials as they will be challenged to create beautiful, functional spaces that merge environmental, social, and architectural elements. Our Students will also learn how to design interiors that transform organizations, change communities, and make a lasting impression.
Vision
This program seeks to provide a unique and exciting Interior design education which is based on futuristic methods but which challenges conventional concepts, processes and solutions in order to meet the needs of present and future generations. Interior
Design has a vital part to play in shaping the future of design. We have planned innovative and enriching programs and interaction sessions with professionals. The courses are also tailored to meet the market demands. The valuable inputs, suggestions from the experts in these fields are carefully considered to make the courses a fruitful one in all aspects.
Mission
The 4 Years Bachelors Program in Interior Design will provide students with professional design experience working at different local and Global architecture firms and design studios. The Advanced-Level Training will challenge the students to consider how interior design affects the way we live, work, and connect with one another. Our Graduates will be prepared for a lasting and meaningful interior design career.

Introduction & History
Research section of the Fine Arts Department was established in 2003 with 6 PhD enrollments. In 2005 4 students were registered for MS leading to PhD and it organized a 3days international seminar in 2006. In the year 2007-08 a research project on the art works of Miss Naseem Hafeez Qazi was started which was sponsored by HEC and all the research work and exhibition of work was published under the slogan of the Fine Arts Research center. Keeping in view its past achievements and production of five PhDs this section has declared as an independent research center during the year 2012.
