Ryder SOT: 02:21:59 this feels really good and I think it solidifies myself as one of the
contenders out here for sure!”
TALOR GOOCH AND TYLER DUNLAP CONNECT WITH WORLD WAR TWO HEROES AT THE
PERLEY AND RIDEAU VETERANS’ CENTRE IN OTTAWA…
Nats from Hospital: Nice to meet you. Please to meet you Talor. You gotta strong grip there,
well yours is not bad itself! (Laughter)
WHILE JOSH STONE AND MATT HANSEN CHECK OUT WORLD WAR TWO PLANES AT THE
VINTAGE WINGS OF CANADA MUSEUM …
Nats: That was insane!
AND THE BOYS FROM THE FOURSOME ARE ON THE ROAD AGAIN!
Nats: from Foursome Feature: Just got the rig packed up and ready to go!
THIS IS THE MACKENZIE TOUR – PGA TOUR CANADA …STARTS NOW!
Nats: 14 hrs, 52 minutes!
TITLES
SEGMENT 1 – EARLY WEEK FEATURE
GOLF IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE A GAME OF NUMBERS.
AND IT SEEMS LIKE THE NUMBER ON EVERYBODY’S MIND IS 5.
THERE ARE JUST FIVE MORE WEEKS LEFT ON THE MACKENZIE TOUR – PGA TOUR CANADA
SCHEDULE CULMINATING IN THE SEASON-ENDING FREEDOM 55 FINANCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP...
…FIVE MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO CLOSE OUT THE RACE TO FINISH IN THE TOP FIVE ON THE
ORDER OF MERIT AND EARN STATUS ON THE WEB.COM TOUR FOR 2015.
AND THE TIME TO MAKE A MOVE … IS NOW.
MICHAEL GLIGIC: 01:41:00 I’m going out with the mentality that I want to win each week and you know
hopefully I can play well in a few and uh maybe I can grab a win and finish the season off strong.
2
2015 THIS IS THE MACKENZIE TOUR – PGA TOUR CANADA - SHOW #9
JULIEN BRUN 01:44:56 the main thing is just to keep your game in the good shape during 4, 5 weeks like
we’re gonna have now is to keep yourself healthy and like be able to play well for the last few weeks as
well.
BEFORE THE START OF THE NATIONAL CAPITAL OPEN, JUST $125 SEPARATED THE 5 TH AND 6TH
SPOTS ON THE ORDER OF MERIT.
AND SURREY, BRITISH COLUMBIA’S RYAN WILLIAMS KNOWS ALL TOO WELL JUST HOW BIG
OF A DIFFERENCE THAT IS … IN 2014 HE WON THE FINAL TROPHY OF THE SEASON BUT FOUND
HIMSELF ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN.
RYAN WILLIAMS 01:39:47 I was fortunate enough to win last year get in 6th position. But you know
getting into that 5th position would’ve meant a much better Web.com Tour card and a lot more events.
// What motivates me is just trying to get back to that winner’s circle, that was one of the best things
that’s happened to me in my career and // now it’s just made me a little bit more hungrier.
EVERYONE IN THE FIELD OF 156 AT THE NATIONAL CAPITAL OPEN TO SUPPORT OUR TROOPS
IS HUNGRY TO MOVE UP THE ORDER OF MERIT…MAKING THE COMPETITION FOR THE FIVE A
TOUGH CLIMB.
MICHAEL GLIGIC 01:41:54 You can’t go into a tournament trying to shoot a number because I mean you
can’t win the tournament on one day but you can certainly lose it so um just go out, stay patient and try
and take advantage of the birdie holes and go from there.
RYAN WILLIAMS 01:36:38: main goal is to try and get back into that top 10, hopefully just get off to good
start here at Hylands and you know improve on the the order of merit standing.
JULIEN BRUN 01:48:00 That’s the goal of everyone here, so it’s tough to do. With all this tough
competition.
MICHAEL GLIGIC 01:43:58 We all want that Web.com card, that’s why we’re all playing, that’s why we
play the game right. I know my game’s good enough I just have to put a few good rounds together and
uh hopefully it can start this week.
SPAUN INTRO TO RECAP: The countdown to the season-ending Freedom 55 Financial
Championship begins now....as the race for the five heats up at The National Capital Open to
support our troops. Consistency got me into the top 5 ...but my victory at the Staal Foundation
Open presented by Tbaytel is what landed me the number one position! Let’s see who takes a
trip to the winner's this week in Ottawa!

RECAP
15CAN09-RECAP
THE RACE FOR ‘THE FIVE’ TOOK FLIGHT IN OTTAWA AT THE NATIONAL CAPITAL OPEN TO
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS.
AND ONCE AGAIN HYLANDS GOLF CLUB WAS THE BACKDROP FOR AN INCREDIBLE HEAD-TOHEAD BATTLE WHEN RICHMOND HILL, ONTARIO’S TAYLOR PENDRITH AND LONGWOOD,
FLORIDA’S SAM RYDER BOTH REACHED 15-UNDER PAR THROUGH 54 HOLES.
KICKING OFF THE THIRD ROUND…RYDER PICKED UP FOUR STROKES ON THE FRONT NINE…
MAKING THE TURN AT -12 UNDER PAR.
HE THEN MATCHED THAT WITH A RUN OF FOUR CONSECUTIVE BIRDIES ON THE BACK NINE.
AND WITH JUST ONE BOGEY ON THE CARD THE STETSON UNIVERSITY GRAD POSTED A 7UNDER 64 FOR THE CLUBHOUSE LEAD.
ANNCE NATS: Ladies and gentleman, welcome to the last tee time of the day, from Richmond Hill,
Ontario, Taylor Pendrith. (Swing)
LEADING THE MACKENZIE TOUR IN DRIVING DISTANCE, PENDRITH BOMBED HIS DRIVE ON
THE 365 YARD PAR 4, 1ST HOLE TO WITHIN 5 YARDS OF THE GREEN…SETTING UP AN EASY UP
AND DOWN FOR BIRDIE.
AND THEN HE SCORCHED THE FRONT NINE CARDING SIX BIRDIES TO JUST ONE BOGEY.
HIS HOT HAND CONTNIUED AFTER THE TURN WITH BIRDIES ON 11 AND 13..AND HIS BIRDIE
ON 16 WAS HIS 20TH OF THE TOURNAMENT!
BUT A COSTLY DOUBLE BOGEY ON 18 DROPPED HIM BACK INTO A TIE WITH RYDER AT 15UNDER PAR.
PENDRITH SOT: I played solid, hit the ball really well and made a lot of putts so I can’t be too
disappointed. It would have been nice to hit it in the fairway on 18 and make a par, but that’s alright.
It’s nothing that can’t be fixed tomorrow.
---FINAL ROUND—
THERE WAS A MATH-PLAY BUZZ AROUND THE FINAL ROUND OF THE NATIONAL CAPITAL
OPEN …AND THE DAY’S FINAL PAIRING DIDN’T DISAPPOINT…PENDRITH AND RYDER TRADED
BIRDIES THROUGHOUT THE DAY…BEGINNING AT THE 1ST.
PENDRITH MOVED AHEAD WITH A BIRDIE AT 4…
4
2015 THIS IS THE MACKENZIE TOUR – PGA TOUR CANADA - SHOW #9
BUT RYDER MATCHED HIM WITH A BIRDIE OF HIS OWN AT 6…
BOTH WOULD PICK UP A STROKE ON THE PAR 5, 8TH HOLE AND THEN MAKE THE TURN TIED
AT -18 PAR.
LIKE A HEAVY-WEIGHT FIGHT…THE PUNCH-COUNTER PUNCH CONTINUED ON THE BACK
NINE…WITH RYDER CARDING BIRDIES ON THE 10TH AND THE 15TH HOLE TO GET TO -20 UNDER
ON THE DAY…
AND PENDRITH PICKING UP BIRDIES ON 13 AND 17 TO MATCH…
BOTH CARDED A PAIR OF PARS ON THE 72ND HOLE IN REGULATION FOR BOGEY-FREE ROUNDS
OF 5-UNDER 66 …SETTING UP THE 4TH PLAYOFF OF THE SEASON!
RYDER SOT: You couldn’t really draw it up better than the way we went back and forth all day no
bogeys through 18h regulation holes. Just a lot of good golf from both of us, and a lot of pressure and it
was, it was a lot of fun.
BUT PRESSURE IS A FUNNY THING. ON THE FIRST PLAYOFF HOLE WITH A 10-FOOTER FOR
BIRDIE …AND THE WIN…PENDRITH HIT IT THROUGH THE BREAK ..
Nats: Groans from crowd
…AND THEN MISSED THE SHORT COMEBACK FOR PAR…OPENING THE DOOR FOR RYDER.
RYDER SOT: Honestly just wasn’t expecting him to miss that second one. Um kinda really didn’t want it
to end like that, but I’ll take it.
RYDER, WHO ALREADY HAD THREE TOP-10 FINISHES THIS SEASON, FINALLY EARNED HIS
BREAKTHROUGH WIN...MOVING HIM UP FROM 11TH ON THE ORDER OF MERIT INTO THE 2ND
SPOT.
AND WITH JUST THREE MORE EVENTS TO GO BEFORE THE SEASON-ENDING FREEDOM 55
FINANCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP…THAT’S A GOOD PLACE TO BE.
RYDER POST SOT: I already had some really solid finishes this year. This feels really good and definitely
solidifies myself as one of the contenders out here for sure.
ORDER OF MERIT GRAPHIC
RYDER JOINS THE LIST OF CHAMPIONS WHO CURRENTLY OCCUPY THE TOP FIVE SPOTS ON
THE ORDER OF MERIT. TORONTO’S ABLIN CHOI HANGS ON TO THE 5TH SPOT, WHILE
VANCOUVER’S KEVIN SPOONER REMAINS IN THE 4TH. DREW WEAVER DROPS TO 3RD THIS
WEEK WHILE SAM RYDER’S WIN VAULTS HIM UP NINE PLACES IN TO 2ND. BUT THEY ALL ARE
CHASING LEADER JJ SPAUN – WHO POSTED HIS 4TH CONSECUTIVE TOP 5 FINISH OF 2015.

BUMP #1
HANSEN AND STONE BUMPER: I’m Josh Stone, and I’m Matt Hansen and you’re watching this is the
Mackenzie Tour PGA TOUR Canada.
Nats not used in piece: (Trying on parachute) fun stuff “in the case that you have to jump out under
your harness you stand on to the wing and jump towards the trailing edge.
HANSEN AND STONE BUMPER: After the break find out which one of us goes up in a vintage war plane.
AFTER THAT TYLER DUNLAP AND TALOR GOOCH MEET REAL-LIFE WWII HEROES AT THE
PERLEY AND RIDEAU VETERANS’ HEALTH CENTRE…
GIB SOT: I’d been shot down about 4 days before and the German’s picked me up. (You look pretty
mean there!) Well I wasn’t very happy! That’s quite a smile there!
SEGMENT 2
REJOIN SPAUN: You’re watching This Is The Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada.
OUTSIDE THE GAME – VINTAGE WINGS OF CANADA MUSEUM
IT’S A HIGH FLYING DAY IN OTTAWA IN THIS WEEK’S OUTSIDE THE GAME!
IN HONOR OF THE NATIONAL CAPTIAL OPEN TO SUPPORT OUR TROOPS MACKENZIE TOUR –
PGA TOUR CANADA PLAYERS MATT HANSEN AND JOSH STONE TOURED THE VINTAGE WINGS
OF CANADA MUSEUM.
Intros: Hi I’m Josh Stone, Josh, I’m Mike Potter. Hi Matt Hansen.
Mike Potter: So I think the plan is to show you around the facility a bit …and then one of you’s gonna fly
with me.
Matt Hansen: I’m ready to go learn some stuff.
Mike Potter: Okay come on!
Josh Stone: Thank you.
Mike Potter: All these airplanes are, they are historical artifacts but we fly them. Most of what we’re
seeing here are World War Two era.
Potter Nats: This is the airplane that scalped the Bismarck. There’s only one other flying in the world
and that’s by the uh, the British navy.
Mike Potter: I started putting the collection together in 2000. A few years after I started that we
started a foundation, and I donated the use of the hangar and the airplanes to the foundation.
Potter nats: This is a Canadian built airplane, it’s painted in gold because it was a lead uh aircraft of an
aerobatic team for the Air Force in the 1950s.
6
2015 THIS IS THE MACKENZIE TOUR – PGA TOUR CANADA - SHOW #9
Mike Potter: Almost all of the hours we put on the airplanes are serving the interests of the Foundation
which is really educational and commemorative, I mean there are a lot of great Canadian heroes who
flew these airplanes.
Potter nats: This is P40, Canadians call it a Kittyhawk, Americans call it a Tomahawk but it’s the same
airplane. It this is painted as it was flown by a great Canadian Ace who’s still alive. We’re very proud to
be able to uh you know put this in his colors to tell his story.
Mike Potter: These airplanes are really quite different in the way they’re designed and the way you fly
them. The technology is moving forward but the engineers like to know where they, where they came
from. This history.
Potter nats: One of the I left out, which is the Harvard, and one of you are gonna fly with me!
Hansen nats: Ohhhhhh.
Stone: Only one of us?
Potter: Let’s go over and take a look at it.
Hansen: I’ll buy you a nice dinner. Sound good?
Stone: That’s sounds the deal.
Hansen: I’ve been wanting to go on a roller coaster for a while. This is like an insane roller coaster
right? Kind of plane? (Yea) Guess we’re gonna do a couple of Gs up there?
Potter: Oh four
Hansen: Ooh okay. I’ll do my best not to pass out!
Potter: Are you the guy?
Hansen: I am the guy!
Stone: And I’m getting good dinners.
Potter: It’s gonna be hot, bumpy.
Hansen: That’s fine! Don’t care.
Potter: You’re gonna be sweaty.
Hansen: That’s fine!
Potter: You’ll be begging for mercy.
Hansen: Okay!
Stone: If you can make him cry even better!
Potter: Very, very few pilots started flying on this. It’s too demanding an airplane for it to be your first
airplane. 95% of the pilots whether they were going bomber or coastal command or fighters, their last
step before transitioning to combat aircraft would be the Harvard. A good trainer. Not easy to fly. It
amplifies every mistake which is what we want a trainer to do. A strong airplane, quite capable of doing
aerobatic maneuvers so they could teach people unusual altitudes and rthyms of flying a fighter.
Matt Hansen: Wow. That was insane! I couldn’t imagine more than 4Gs. I guess we did around 4, any
more than that no way! It was amazing.
Potter: I know I took it out of you! I know how that feels!
Matt Hansen: You did like a bank and then a roll and then uh….then I reached for the bag. I didn’t
7

throw up but if you did another one! (Laughter)
Potter: I know what that feels like! I’ve been there.
Matt Hansen: Thank you for having such a beautiful exhibit and thing to be able to do this. It’s
something special. Not many people can say that they flew in a World War II Harvard. Wow.
Stone: You should see your face dude. You’re sweating a lot! (Laughter)

TOUR_SET UP NATS: (01:57:15) we’re gonna go on a tour now, visit some of our residents, particularly
the uh veterans. Some 250 Second World War, Korean Veterans call the Perley Rideau Veterans’ home.
TOUR_HEADED TO WWII VETERAN WING (01:57:42) Where we’re going now is towards the Rideau
Home, in a hospital you’d say “You’re going to the Rideau Wing”, but in a long-term care center like this
the emphasis is on home, and the Rideau Home is 100% Second World War, Korean War Veteran
occupied, male and female.TOUR_WALKING (01:58:46) The average age now of the veterans // is
92….so there are many people in here excess of 100.

ONE SUCH HERO – 93-YEAR-OLD GILBERT “GIB” MCELROY – WAS A TAILGUNNER FOR THE
CANADIAN ARMED FORCES DURING WORLD WAR TWO AND WAS SHOT DOWN OVER
GERMANY WHERE HE REMAINED AS A P-O-W FOR NEARLY TWO YEARS.
GIB: (02:03:52) That’s me behind… (GIB) I’d been shot down about 4 days before and walking along a

TYLER DUNLAP 02:41:04 although they’re a little older now you can really see the the vibrant selves that
they were and you can hear in their voice and in their stories they got a lot of spunk, the sacrifices that
they made, it’s pretty inspiring.
TALOR GOOCH intv 02:39:26: I have family back home that are veterans so being able to come visit a

TOUR_GILBERT MCELROY TELLS A STORY ABOUT WIFE: (02:05:27) Did you ever golf Gib? I think you
golfed a few times!
GIB: I’ll tell you what upset me with this damn golf game, (Uh oh now we’ve got it here!) My good wife,

standing back there but it’s not fair!!! I paid for the lessons, and here she is beating me!
TALOR GOOCH 02:41:30 it’s awesome just to see the energy and life at that age you know //so excited
about life //that was the coolest thing to me today.
TYLER DUNLAP intv: 02:39:45 They took care of us when they were fighting over WWII, over in Korea,
keeping us safe here on the home front, the least that they should be afforded is equal care in their
elderly life.
