Visit Wales – accolades for Tourist Attractions Gold – for attractions that achieve excellence for their facilities and customer service Best Told Story – for attractions that achieve excellence in conveying their ‘story’ Quality Café – for attractions that achieve excellence for their food Hidden Gem – quality attractions/places of interest with visitor numbers under 20,000 visitors per year Criteria for Gold Award This accolade will go attractions that achieve excellence for their facilities and customer service Attractions must score 85% + overall All aspects* of the attraction must score 80% + * pre-arrival, arrival, the attraction, cleanliness, toilets, catering, retail and staff Criteria for Best Told Story This accolade will go to those attractions or tours which tell their story effectively. Might be technical innovation but could easily be enthusiastic and well trained staff and volunteers. It will be an interesting and entertaining experience and will leave no loose ends Attractions must achieve a score of 5 (out of 5) in the following areas: Visitor Attraction – interpretation and presentation of display Guided Tour – quality and delivery of commentary, quality of content Quality Café This accolade will go to catering operations that are well managed, run in a professional manner with skilled and friendly staff. Menus will be Interesting and innovative and there will be very good standard of décor and maintenance. Attractions must achieve a score of 4 or 5 (out of 5) in the following areas: Score of 4 or 5 – Ambience and first impressions, Score of 4 or 5 - Food menus and range Score of 5 required – Food quality and presentation, Score of 5 required - staff across all catering elements (customer care, efficiency and knowledge) Hidden Gem Accolade for smaller attractions/places of interest that offer a very good customer experience. Attractions must score 85% + overall Attractions do not need to meet any of the minimum percentages in any of the key areas
