Introduction to ts02.xlsx
The dataset in file “ts02.xlsx” contains 14C ages from three cores in Fiordland, New
Zealand. The linear age models derived from the 14C ages are used for carbon
accumulation rate calculations discussed in the text. In addition, two cores are presented
from Knudson et al. {*Knudson:2011ft}; 14C data for those cores (M717 from George
Sound and I480 from Thompson Sound) can be found in that paper.
All 14C measurements were made on terrestrial macrofossils and analyzed at the National
Ocean Sciences Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (NOSAMS) Facility at Woods Hole
Oceanographic Institution using accelerator mass spectrometry. Ages were calibrated
using the Southern Hemisphere SHCal04 calibration curve from McCormac et al. [2004].
ts02.xlsx: 14C dates measured on terrestrial macrofossils at three core locations (Deep
Cove, Girlies Island, Useless Bay).
Column “Site” gives the name of the site where the sediment core was taken.
Column “Latitude” gives the latitude of core location.
Column “Longitude gives the longitude of core location.
Column “Depth in core (cm)” gives the depth at which a sample was taken for
14
C-dating.
1.5. Column “Material dated” gives the type of material submitted for 14C-dating.
1.6. Column “14C age ± 1σ (yr BP)” gives the reported 14C date results plus a 1σ
range.

1.2.
1.3.
1.4.
1.7. Column “Calibrated age range (2σ) (cal yr BP)” gives the 2σ range of calibrated
ages using the SHCal04 calibration curve.
1.8. Column “Median probability age (cal yr BP)” gives the most likely age in cal yr
BP.
