DeAndre Turner High Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation Teaching Project Objectives 1. The nurse will be able to describe the purpose of high frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV). 2. The nurse will be able to describe the difference between a conventional mechanical ventilation and HFOV. 3. The nurse will be able to identify basic functions and controls of the HFOV 4. The nurse will be able to identify and demonstrate nursing considerations in the care of clients receiving HFOV. 5. The nurse will be able to identify complications of HFOV and nursing actions related to complications. 6. The nurse will be able to identify and locate resources for HFOV. Summary Location of teaching project located on the Trauma ICU at OU Medical Center on April 25, 2012 at 0645-0700. Purpose: HFOV is exclusively used in severe acute respiratory distress. HFOV training occurs when nurses are orienting to unit when there is client receiving ventilation via oscillator. The purpose is to collectively provide training to all nurses on Trauma ICU regarding HFOV.
