NEWSLETTER
FRIDAY 9th JANUARY
Dear Parents,
Happy New Year!
As you are aware, Mr Power, Head
Teacher and Mr Meadows, Deputy Head
Teacher, both left the school at the end of
last term.
A new Deputy Head Teacher has been
appointed to the school and she took up
her post on the 5th January 2015. Her
name is Mrs Broadhurst and she is looking
forward to getting to know parents over
the next few weeks. A new Head Teacher
will be appointed to the school in the near
future.
In the meantime, Mrs Barry, a Head
Teacher from a nearby school, will be
working at Radcliffe Primary School as
Executive Head Teacher for 2/3 days per
week.
Mrs Broadhurst will be available in school
every day if parents have any issues they
wish to discuss with her. However, if you
wish to speak to Mrs Barry, please
arrange an appointment via the school
office for one of the days she is in
attendance at the school.
Both Mrs Barry and Mrs Broadhurst feel it
is important that parents are kept up to
date with what is happening in school and
therefore it is intended that a fortnightly
newsletter will be produced.
In addition, over the coming weeks school
will be holding a number of coffee
mornings which will be an opportunity for
parents to come in and meet with both
Mrs Barry and Mrs Broadhurst informally.
School Opening Times
The school day officially commences at
9.00 a.m. However, starting on Monday
19th January, the school will be open from
8.45 onwards. All children in the
playground at that time will go into their
classrooms where they will be supervised
by their teachers and carry out various
activities. This will ensure the children
enter school calmly and quietly ready for
registration at 9.00 a.m. Mrs Broadhurst
will try to be out on either the Infant or
Junior playgrounds to deal with any
concerns or issues in the morning.
Collecting children at the end of the
school day
We have noticed that a number of
children are being collected late from
school on a regular basis. The current
procedure for children being collected
after the end of the school day is that
they are taken to the school office where
they are then collected.
This procedure is causing some difficulty
on a number of levels.
First of all, it is causing congestion at the
office at home time and it is making it
difficult to deal with parents/visitors who
have appointments at the school or
queries for the office staff.
Secondly, the supervision of these
children by the office staff is difficult
because there are a large number of
children to supervise. This could pose a
health and safety risk.
Thirdly, it can cause confusion when
parents come to collect their children and
the children are not immediately available,
as they have gone elsewhere (e.g. to the
toilet or to the cloakroom etc) and the
office staff are not aware of this.
Can I remind parents that the Key Stage 1
pupils (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2)
finish school at 3.10 p.m. and the Key
Stage 2 pupils (Year 3 – Year 6) finish
school at 3.15 p.m. It is the responsibility
of parents to ensure that the children are
collected at this time.
We understand that on rare occasions,
parents may be unavoidably detained. If
this does happen, the new procedure for
collecting children after the end of the
school day is:
 Children will be collected from their
classroom and not the school office
Parents who collect their children late on
a regular basis will need to meet with the
Head Teacher, so that any difficulties can
be addressed.
Reception Applications
If you wish your child to start Reception in
September 2015 you need to ensure that
your application is in by Thursday 15th
January.
It has been a lovely first week at Radcliffe
and the children have settled back into
school quickly. Both Mrs Barry and Mrs
Broadhurst are very keen to work with
parents and if you ever have any concerns
or worries then please call in to speak to
them.
