A few weeks ago, Miss Esom set the whole school a challenge; It was to grow a bean. Because we didn’t have long to grow them, we had to start as soon as possible. First of all you had to soak your bean in water overnight, then find a reasonable sized pot and fill it with soil. Once we had done that, we had to dig a hole for the seed then plant it. Every day we had to look after it, which included watering it and keeping it in the sun. As well as that, we had to keep a diary about how we were looking after the bean. This wasn’t only decided by Miss Esom because a children’s charity also known as Barnardo’s rang her and asked if we could help raise some money. How did we raise the money? Well we got family and friends to sponsor us for growing the bean. We had to send the money into school. Once we had all brought our money into school in an envelope and we had a draw. The draw was to win a Barnardo’s teddy bear, the winner was a reception child. Then after we had announced the winner of the teddy bear we measured the beans. In third place was Jack with 122cm, in second place was Freya with 135cm. The winner was Ethan with… 161cm. We have definitely risen over £200. Well done to all of the school for raising money.
