Climate Cycle’s Student Leadership Board What it is Climate Cycle’s Student Leadership Board (SLB) is a unique opportunity for students who want to get more involved with Climate Cycle to bring energy reduction to their schools and other schools in our network. This small group of high school students will be in charge of bringing changes to their schools, speaking about their work, and helping spread the word about leading more sustainable lives. SLB Benefits As an SLB member, you will be exposed to a variety of businesses and organizations throughout Chicagoland while improving your skills and knowledge about energy and the environment. You’ll also have the opportunity to expand your professional network by working closely with these organizations. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to plan, implement, and assess environmental and energy improvement plans in your and other schools through the Student Leadership Board. You will have a major role in shaping Climate Cycle, something that you can write about in your college essays and can include on your resume. SLB Responsibilities Because the SLB is only as successful as the students who make up the board will be, the following responsibilities must be met: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. All members must attend biweekly (every other week) meetings. All members must maintain passing grades in all courses. All members must return communications (via email, voice, or text) within 24 hours. All members must participate fully in their subgroup (planning, policy, or data). All members must communicate meeting outcomes with the environmental clubs at their home school. How to get involved Interested students should email Erin Potter at erin@climatecycle.org. Then, you can complete the application process at your school, which will include an essay on why you should be chosen to be a board member. Applications for 2012 Student Leadership Board membership will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Questions?
