How to Use Business Insights: Essentials In this database, you can find information on companies and industries, as well as articles on various business topics. In this tutorial, we will focus on company and industry information. To start, type your company or industry keyword in the search box. We will search for Nike. Then, click on the Company Profile for Nike, Inc. The next page will give you very brief information about the company. Items at the top of the record include Key Information, Related Companies, and Industries by NAICS code. Note that items with a graphic next to them can be shown with a chart or graph More in depth information on Nike can be obtained by clicking the links at the right side of the screen under Related Content. Not every company will have links for all of these areas. Brands will list the major brands for the company. Company Chronology will list year by year events. Company Histories, will cover the founding and important events in the company. Financials will cover balance sheet and ratio information. Investment reports are brokers’ reports on the company. Journals cover academic articles on the company. Market Share Reports and Rankings cover how Nike has been ranked on various company lists. Recent news covers newspaper, newswire and magazine articles about Nike. Of special interest are the SWOT Reports, which list Nike’s strengths and weaknesses. Information on Industries can be obtained by clicking on the Industries link at the top of the page. You can search for your industry by trying a keyword search or by using an industry, or NAICS, code. We will look for footwear. We will pick the top, Rubber and Plastics Footwear Manufacturing. Click on the essay to get a more detailed report. If you don’t know your industry’s code and keyword searching isn’t working, pick a large company in that industry and pull up the company record and look for industry codes that are listed there.
